Campaign aims to get Shumate in Hall of Fame

The Southeast Missouri State athletics department announced on Tuesday that nominations for the 2015 Southeast Athletics Hall of Fame were being accepted.

A day later a Facebook group called "Coach Ron Shumate in SEMO Hall of Fame" was created encouraging those who want former Southeast basketball coach Ron Shumate inducted into the Hall of Fame to like and share the page, which can be found here.

The page has almost 400 likes in just three days.

What do you think about this campaign to get Shumate into the Hall of Fame? Who would you like to see inducted this year?

Nominations can be made by anyone. The nomination form that must be submitted to sports information director Jeff Honza can be found here. More information on the hall of fame is provided here.

Considering his coaching success led to the Show Me Center being built, it's about time he is recognized & inducted into the Hall of Fame. Personally, I think if he is inducted into the Hall this year, they should name the basketball court after him like Mizzou did for Norm Stewart. With all the upgrades happening at the Show Me Center, it would be the perfect year to do that.

Gazza, you are 100% correct. I have been a supporter of naming the court for Coach Shu for years. Might get it done now that there is a regime change.

Long overdue. There is no Show Me Center without Ron Shumate. Put him in.
