SEMO athletes earn weekly honors

Two Southeast Missouri State student-athletes earned weekly honors in their respective sports this week.
Bailey Walker was named the Midwest Independent Conference Specialist of the Week while Blake Carter was named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Walker, a freshman, won the floor competition with a score of 9.875 on Sunday in Southeast's meet against the University of Illinois-Chicago and the University of Alaska-Anchorage. The Redhawks won the meet with a season-high score of 194.075.
Carter, a senior, finished first in the long jump at the SIU Invitational in Carbondale, Ill., on Friday. His jump of 24 feet, 9.75 inches is first in the OVC and tied for 20th nationally.
