ADVANCE, Mo. — Oak Ridge pitcher Kinsley Bogenpohl delivered a historic performance in a 9-0 win over Scott County Central in the opening round of the MSHSAA Class 1, District 2 Tournament on Thursday, May 2 at Westfield Park.

Bogenpohl mowed down the Bravettes’ (9-12) batters with precision. Strikeout after strikeout, her dominance grew, and with each out, she etched her name into Missouri high school softball history.

Her 18-strikeout perfect game places her in a select group — only 22 other players have recorded more strikeouts in a seven-inning contest.

The Bluejays (13-5) provided ample support and the top hitters were Madalyn Schemel (2-for-4 with a double and two RBI), Bogenpohl (2-for-4 with an RBI), Hailey Ward (2-for-4 with an RBI), and Sarah McLane (2-for-4 with an RBI).

Despite the tough loss, Scott County Central's season had its bright spots. Seniors McKinna Easter and Allie Foster provided consistent leadership and offensive production throughout the year. Easter led the team with a .440 batting average and 22 hits, while Foster drove in a team-leading 24 runs, showcasing her power at the plate. Foster also maintained a .321 batting average and contributed 17 hits.

The Bravettes also have reason for optimism, with freshman Lainey Glueck emerging as a standout player on both offense and defense. Glueck led the team in runs scored (27), maintained a .304 batting average (17 hits, 20 RBIs), and was the team's workhorse in the circle with 92 innings pitched, a 9-9 record, and 136 strikeouts.

"Proud of our girls and the season we had," said SCC coach Tim Carlisle. "Our girls worked hard daily to try and get better. Hats off to Oak Ridge. Kinsley Bogenpohl was bringing it against us, and when we were able to hit it, their defense was behind her."

Oak Ridge and Oran (12-6) face off in a Monday, May 6 quarterfinal at 5:45 p.m., showcasing a duel between two of Southeast Missouri's top pitchers.
