Cape Central seniors Ki Bogan and Keri Williams both signed letters of intent to play softball at Mineral Area College on Thursday at Cape Central High School.

The duo — who describe each other as family — are looking forward to continuing to share the field at the next level.

"It's really exciting because we literally do everything together," Williams said of joining Bogan at MAC. "Now we get to play softball again for at least two more years. She's like a sister to me."

Both athletes earned praise from their coach Alexis Estes for their talent on the field.

"Ki and Keri, they are a great duo together," Estes said. "They're always with each other, pushing each other in practice and in games. I know those are two that I can always count on whether it's in practices or in games to be great leaders by example."

Bogan and Williams were the top two batters on the Tigers' squad this past fall, with Williams posting a .387 average (29-for-75, five doubles, four triples, 20 RBIs) and Bogan recording a .554 average (46-for-83, four doubles, two triples, one home run, 11 RBIs).

In addition to her hitting skills, Bogan — who is a multi-time state qualifier in track and field — was strong on the basepaths stealing 42 bases her senior season.

"I think she's going to get there and immediately jump on that field and be a starting player," Estes said of Bogan. "I think she's going to outperform other opponents right away."

Williams was the Tigers' starting pitcher, going 7-10 on the season and striking out 123 batters.

"She has such a great work ethic and drive," Estes said. "She's always working to get better and stronger as a pitcher and a hitter. I can see her stepping into a role in college and being both a pitcher and hitter and being willing to just give it her all, all the time."

Estes is proud of how far the pair have come together.

"All this past summer they were going to softball camps with one another, traveling and trying to get to the next level," Estes said. "They've always had that constant support for one another and I think that's so special to have that bond and be able to carry that to the next level. When I heard Keri had verbally committed, I knew that Ki was probably going to verbally commit and wherever she went, I knew she would be happy. But to hear that she was going to the same place as Keri and now that they're gonna be together, I think that their relationship is just going to grow so much more on and off the field."
