Poplar Bluff's Paige Earls places 2nd at wrestling tournament

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Poplar Bluff’s Paige Earls placed second Monday at the Cape Central Girls Tournament.

The junior earned a pin against Notre Dame’s Jona Vercide before falling in the final to Lianna Ward of West Plains in the 130-pound division.

BreAnn Thresher earned a pair of pins at 110 pounds but lost 4-0 to Kaytlyn Bruesch of West Plains and lost by fall.

Demi Wisdom earned a pin and won 5-3 while suffering a 10-6 loss and a fall while Kylie Darnell earned a pin at 135 pounds.

Grace Kearby pinned teammate Katlyn Pickard at 235 pounds while Pickard also had a pin of an opponent from Fox.

The Mules host Sikeston and Marion (Ill.) at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
