MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: Jackson baseball dumps Doniphan

Justice Crosnoe doubled twice and had three stolen bases as Jackson baseball throttled Doniphan 13-3 in six innings at Whitey Herzog Stadium in Jackson, Missouri.

Quenton Dacus pitched 3 1/3 innings to get the win for the Indians (2-0). He allowed three earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and five walks.

Montana Ruffington went one inning on the mound to suffer the loss for the Dons (0-1). He surrendered five runs (three earned) on three hits, walked three batters and had one strikeout.

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Doniphan but was moved to Jackson due to wet field conditions.

Chase Brown went the distance to take the loss for Perryville (1-4). He recorded four strikeouts and one walk.

Luke Gaia pitched a complete game for Central (4-1). He recorded three strikeouts and five walks.

Dillon Manion produced a hit that drove in the game-winning run for the Rebels.

The Pirates began their season on the links with a victory over the Owls at the Oak Valley Golf Course in Pevely, Missouri.

Perryville's Brock Kurre took the medalist spot, shooting a 8-over-par 44 for the Pirates (1-0).

That left Kurre one stroke ahead of runner-up Kyle Rudden (45) of Windsor.
