One has to wonder why they produce final state rankings.

In my opinion Leopold should have been in the 6th spot

If you didn't get to the final four, does it really matter?

Like most have said, doesn't really matter, but at the Jan. meeting the coaches will take these rankings, have some discussions on what players are returning, how the teams faired in district, sectionals, etc., then produce a pre-season rankings list for each class. Usually the state champion will remained the # 1 ranked team until they prove they are not. Sometimes coaches that graduate most of their players will be honest and asked to be moved down, but that is rare. All is done to help promote interest in high school baseball.
