With most seasons wrapping up, including local softball action entering the later stages of district play, Monday's action had some big implications for local teams.

For Advance softball, Monday was a big day as the Hornets proved they belonged with a thrashing of Bismarck to get back to the district title game.

SB: Advance 11, Bismarck 1

With a spot in the district championship on the line, top-seeded Advance (19-2) didn't disappoint with a run-rule win over Bismarck in the semis.

Led by the three hits of senior Maggie Stubenrauch, with another three from Mallory Mayberry, the Hornets racked up 14 hits in the win.

After a scoreless first inning, Advance was never kept off the board again as it tacked on four in the second and cruised from there.

Addison Carlton got the win in the circle, allowing a handful of hits over her five innings but just one earned run, striking out 10 batters.

BB: Jackson 11, Portageville 1

Against one of the top teams in Southeast Missouri, Jackson (22-7) proved its mettle with a fierce victory over Portageville on Monday afternoon.

Hosting the Bulldogs, the Indians scored three runs in the first, another three in the second and never went an inning without adding a run.

Jaiden Glency and Drew Parsons entered multi-hit territory with two knocks each, led by the two doubles for four RBIs of Glency.

Senior Adrian Fox got the victory throwing all five innings, holding the highly-touted Portageville Bulldogs hitless while allowing just two walks and no earned runs.

Aaron Dunlap got Portageville's lone RBI, while William Warren and Xayvion Bogan each drew walks for the 'Dawgs.

SB: Oran 5, Oak Ridge 1

A marvelous season for Oak Ridge (13-6) came crashing down on Monday as Oran (13-6) proved every bit of why it's regarded as one of the top teams in the area.

In a fierce battle between the second and third seeds, Oran, led by the two hits and a double of Molly Spane for two RBIs, got all five between the second and third innings.

Spane was phenomenal in the win, throwing all seven innings and allowing just three hits and five walks, earning a run while striking out 13 Bluejay batters.

Kinsley Bogenpohl, Madyson Ruehling and Hailey Ward each hit for the Bluejays, with sophomore Bogenpohl driving in their lone run.

Bogenpohl held the Eagles to just four hits in the loss, but her 10 walks surrendered and five earned runs put her 13 strikeouts in the rearview mirror.

BB: Delta 21, Hayti 11

A good old-fashioned shootout between Delta (4-17) and Hayti resulted in a dominant win for the visitors as the Bobcats scored in troves on Monday.

Between the first and second innings, Delta racked up 15 runs, led by the three hits of Rylin Huffman, one for a double, while driving in two.

Jase Anglin got a double and a single himself, driving in three while Silas Amelung's own double-single combo drove in another.

Nobody pitched more than 1.1 for the Bobcats on Monday, but I'll give the nod to Coleton Deckard, who threw a team-high 1.1 innings, never surrendering a base while striking out five(!) batters.

Hayti only hit twice for 11 runs. It was that kind of game for Delta. The good news, however, is that it didn't seem to matter much as the Bobcats still hounded the hosts' pitching.

SB: Valle Catholic 14, Woodland 1

Just hours removed from an astounding win over Scott City, Woodland's (14-7) season came to an end against a fierce Valle Catholic team.

It took until the fifth inning for the Cards to bring a run across home plate, and by that point, the lead for the Warriors was already a whopping 13 runs.

Janelle Fox got the lone hit for Woodland, a single, becoming one of just two Cardinals to reach base in a brutal loss before coming across to score their only run.

BB: Scott City 13, New Madrid 1

Against a SEMO Conference foe, Scott City (28-3) kept the hype train going with an undeniable win against New Madrid on Monday afternoon.

The Rams put the heat on early, and put the game to bed by pushing seven across in the fourth inning to put the run rule in effect.

Lane Holder and Gavin Venable each hit twice in the win, Venable doubling, with each driving in a game-high three runs.

Lawson Graff got the dub on the mound, surrendering three hits and two walks but never an earned run, striking out three batters.

Lane Miller came in for the fifth, never allowing a batter to reach base as he closed out a dominating win.
