Notre Dame, St. Vincent boys’ golf wins district titles

The boys’ golf teams at St. Vincent and Notre Dame each won their district championship on Monday, May 6.

Notre Dame won the Class 2 District 1 championship at the Crystal Highlands in Festus, Mo., with a team score of 339. All four golfers earned All-District and advanced to state to compete for the individual title along with the team title.

Luke Gilmore won the individual district championship by leading the Bulldogs with a score of 77. Max LeGrand finished second with a score of 78, Trenton Schumacker placed fifth (89) and Parker Lemons finished 12th (95).

St. Vincent won their second district title in a row by shooting a 331 in the Class 1 District 1 Tournament hosted by Saxony Lutheran at the Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson, Mo. The Indians will send all five golfers to the state meet to compete as individuals and as a team.

St. Vincent senior Payton Strattman placed third with a score of 74, Samuel Koishor placed fifth (80) and Garrett Brickhaus finished eighth (83) to round out the top 10. Adam Brickhaus (94) advances to state as the district champion gets to advance their top four golfers and Logan Hornberger (99) also advances as the fifth golfer for being within 10 strokes of the top 13.

Saxony Lutheran finished eighth in the team standings with a score of 406. The Crusaders were led by Bryce Gaebler who scored a 98 to finish 33rd.

St. Vincent and Notre Dame joins Dexter (C3D1 champion) and Poplar Bluff (C4D1 champion) as local schools who won district titles.
