Day one of Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament concludes with plenty of impressive performances

The first day of action in the 2022 Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament features multiple impressive performances over the eight-game stretch.

The scoring started early as Cape Central’s Cam Williams scored 16 points, all in the first half, to lead the Tigers to a 99-12 win over Bell City.

The Charleston Blue Jays had five players in double digits, but Rico Coleman led the way with a 13-point night leading his team to an 88-46 win over Leopold. Almareion Williams and Roylandus Wiley chipped in 12 points, while Ko’Terrion Owens and Deshaun Henderson posted 10 points each.

Kole Deck led Jackson’s 109-point outburst over Delta with 14 points of his own, while Clayton Ernst chipped in 13 points and Blaine Harris scored 12 points.

Advance seniors Hayden Laird and Colton Silman combined for 40 points to help defeat Scott County Central 87-40.

Brenden Beussink put on a scoring clinic with a 24-point game as the 12-seed Scott City Rams upset the 5th-seed Notre Dame Bulldogs 52-43.

Kolten Payne scored 12 points and Robby Menz scored 10 to lead the Oran Eagles over the Chaffee Red Devils 49-36. Despite the loss, Chaffee’s Blake Yarbro posted a game high 20-points.

Brayden Hastings had 21-points and Jarid Frymire had a 19-point night to lead the Woodland Cardinals to an 83-62 win over Meadow Heights.

In the final game of the evening, it was Camren Volz scoring a game-high 21 points to lead the Oak Ridge Blue Jays over the Kelly Hawks 54-39. Ty Wilson followed up Volz’s 21 with 15 points of his own.

Day two action begins with Notre Dame taking on Scott County Central at 9 a.m.

The second game of the day will begin at 10:30 with Leopold battling Meadow Heights.

Game three will start at noon as Delta and Chaffee square off.

The final game of the morning session is scheduled to tip-off at 1:30 with Bell City and Kelly set to match up.

The afternoon session gets underway at 4:30 and the top seeded Cape Central Tigers will play the 8-seed Oak Ridge Blue Jays.

Charleston will look to stay in the winner’s bracket as they battle Woodland at 6 p.m.

Following their 109-16 win, Jackson will look to keep the offense going as they take on Oran at 7:30 p.m.

The final game of day two will begin at 9 p.m. with Advance taking on Scott City.
