Baseball Roundup, April 12: Lindgren’s three hits give Meadow Heights boost as Panthers beat South Iron

Two of Meadow Heights senior Kade Lindgren's three hits were doubles and the visiting Panthers knocked off host South Iron 6-3 on Tuesday at South Iron High School.

Meadow Heights scored one run in the first inning and added four in the top of the third to give the Panthers a 5-0 lead.

Will Green, Ransom Grindstaff, Chase Conrad and Trae Yamnitz each drove in a run for the Panthers (8-3).

South Iron clawed back to within two runs as the host Panthers scored two runs in the fourth inning and added another in the fifth. Three runs were all South Iron could muster on Green, who threw 5 1/3 innings of one-hit baseball.

Defensive lapses would hurt the visiting Panthers as Meadow Heights committed seven errors. Luckily, timely hitting and solid pitching thwarted a South Iron comeback attempt.

Freshman Braeden Hays threw 1 2/3 innings of relief, giving up three hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking one.

Meadow Heights is scheduled to play Saxony Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Saxony Lutheran High School.
