Rachel Crader is the editor of semoball.com. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in May of 2009 before spending the summer covering the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Highlights from Rachel's days in college include having a class down the hall from Chase Daniel and having NCAA wrestling champion Ben Askren hold the door open for her at Brady Commons, Mizzou's student center. She spent time covering Mizzou basketball, softball and baseball while working for the Columbia Missourian and is excited to return home to Southeast Missouri to cover local sports for semoball.com.

Once again the sports staffs of the Daily American Republic, Daily Dunklin Democrat, Dexter Daily Statesman, Sikeston Standard Democrat and Southeast Missourian were all invited to rank the top 10 boys and girls basketball team from Southeast Missouri.

Voting was done before games were played on Tuesday night, so obviously we didn't know Poplar Bluff was about to defeat Jackson...what will that mean for next week.

The top of the girls rankings were a little harder to determine and four different teams were given a first-place vote. Who is your No. 1?

I'm not knocking the ND boys, but where would you put them? Sikeston, Cape, and Dexter beat them, Bernie beat Dexter, Bluff beat Jackson, etc.

What's a joke to me is that sikeston didn't get 1 first place vote. Siketon ranked 4th in the state. SCC ranked 5th in the state.

ND is like 1 game over .500 and has lost to at least 3 of the teams on that list...that doesn't quite sound like a good case for them being ranked.

Actually SCC and Sikeston are both ranked number 1 in the state.

1. Sikeston-I think they have the best overall team in SEMO. Apparently people class 4 STATE WIDE think so too.

2. SCC has the best player in SEMO possibly state, and they have been tested against some tough competetion this year, so I would have to rank them a VERY close second.

3. Charleston-strongly believe the districts is their's to lose. I can see a final four with this team just because the talent they've played against has challenged them and they have stepped up.

8. Dexter

9. Notre Dame

10. Bernie-could be district champs again, but for some reason...I'm thinking not, yet for right now their the only team besides SCC and Kennett(both of which are state ranked) OUTSIDE of the SEMO conference that is playing hot right now.

I havent seen caruthersville play. And I think portageville was the best class 2 team in the Bloomfield Christmas. Tournament. But Bernie seems to be hot right now. Which is why I ranked them. But I'm not sure if they will win their district. I wonder what the top ten would look like if ya remove ALL the teams from the SEMO conference from the equation.

Mclure North is ranked #1 in 5A in the state,they beat Jackson by only 6.SCC beat Jackson by 41,and had them by 50+ before they put all the subs in with 4 or 5 min. to go in the 4th .I think the SEMOBALL folks do a real good job on the rankings.NOW on the other hand the STATE might want to take a look at the way they do the rankings,especially STATE wide,because I don't think Sikeston is even the #1 team in 4A' let alone #5 in the state. I also think there could be a good case made to SCC being the #1 team in the State period.

I know they have not lost to a MO.team ,so the only thing I can do is compare scores.Just my opinion.
