Rachel Crader is the editor of semoball.com. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in May of 2009 before spending the summer covering the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Highlights from Rachel's days in college include having a class down the hall from Chase Daniel and having NCAA wrestling champion Ben Askren hold the door open for her at Brady Commons, Mizzou's student center. She spent time covering Mizzou basketball, softball and baseball while working for the Columbia Missourian and is excited to return home to Southeast Missouri to cover local sports for semoball.com.

Live Blog: Cape Legion beats Dunklin County to set up title game

We've arrived at the championship round of the District 14 American Legion baseball tournament. Undefeated Dunklin County will be facing loser's bracker winner Cape Post 63. If the Dunklin County Dodgers wins the championship will belong to them. If Cape wins, we'll be back tomorrow for a final game.

I'll provide live updates every half-inning:

Top of First

Heath Horvath is on the mound for Dunklin County.

Jake Pewitt popped out. Blake Smith bunt-single attempt failed. Ryan Grigaitis was retired.

Bottom of First

Skylar Cobb is on the mound for Cape. (This should be a fantastic pitching matchup!)

Garret Stockton grounded out to shortstop. Jake Welch grounded out to second. Parker Watkins singled. Heath Horvath popped out to second.

Dustin Crowden was hit by a pitch. Skylar Cobb grounded into a fielder's choice. Crowden out at second. Cobb stole second. Jimmy Obermark struck out. Trent St. Cin walked. Josh Compas singled, scoring Cobb. Logan Morris fisted a single into shallow right, scoring St. Cin. Jake Pewitt popped out.

Aaron Booker struck out. Austin Jackson singled. Jackson was caught stealing by Cape catcher Josh Compas. Jordan Carter struck out.

Blake Smith reached base to start the inning. Ryan Grigaitis singled. Dustin Crowden hit into a 6-4-3 double play. Skylar Cobb singled Smith home. Cobb stole second. Jimmy Obermark singled, but Cobb was throw out at home by leftfielder Garret Stockton.

Skylar Cobb was a little slow to return to the mound after getting thrown out at home. He spent some time studying his catching hand on the mound before putting his glove. He looks to be fine though.

Trent St. Cin struck out. Josh Compas struck out. Logan Morris singled. Jake Pewitt flied out center.

Tyler Thompson reached base to start the inning, but he was picked off by Cape cater Josh Compas. Cameron Lincks and Garret Stockton both struck out looking.

You can sure I'll be writing about that strikeout if Cape hangs on to win this game.

Blake Smith singled. Ryan Grigaitis advanced Smith to second. Dustin Crowden flied out to left. Smith tagged up at second and the throw from the leftfielder deflected off the third baseman's glove and into the Dunklin County dugout allowing Smith to score. It would have been a very close play at third if the ball had been fielded cleanly. Skylar Cobb singled. Cameron Wallace replaced Horvath on the mound. Jimmy Obermark walked. Trent St. Cin grounded out to second.

Tyler Thomas flied out. Cameron Lincks struck out. Garret Stockton flied out to left.

I forgot to include a pitching change for Dunklin County. Cameron Wallace replaced Heath Horvath for the last batter of the seventh. He is still on the mound.

Bottom of Eighth (with corrections)

Jake Welch doubled on a shallow ball to left-center. Believe it or not, second baseman Blake Smith actually ended up being the closest player to the ball. I'm not sure if leftfielder Trent St. Cin and centerfielder Jake Pewitt lost the ball in the twilight or what.

Skylar Cobb is replaced by Trent St. Cin on the mound.

Parker Watkins reached on an error by third baseman, though it was a tough play and bounce. Heath Horvath popped up to shortstop. Cameron Wallace walked. Austin Jackson hit into a fileder's choice. Wallace out at second. Welch scored. Seth Childers hit in what was originally Jordan Carter's spot. Childers struck out looking.

Top of Ninth

Ryan Grigaitis grounded out to the pitcher. Dustin Crowden grounded out. Skylar Cobb popped out to second.

I believe Aaron Booker is out of the game with Horvath replacing him on 3rd. Wallace Walked, Jackson hit the fielders choice.

That was a good game by both teams. Skylar Cobb pitched a gem and had Dunklin off balance all game. It should be interesting to see who pitches for both games tomorrow.

Yes Sportsfann you are correct. Aaron Booker was replaced by Wallace in the batting lineup. Horvath took over for Booker at 3rd base, and Wallace went to the mound. Seth Childress replaced Jordan Carter behind the plate.

Welch doubled, Parker Watkins reached on an error, Horvath popped out. Wallace then walked, Austin Bruce hit into a fielders choice to force Wallace out at second, and then Seth Childress stuck out to end the inning.

Thanks guys for the correction. I actually wrote on my scorecard and typed that Wallace walked and then thought I had made a mistake. Apparently I had, but in a different place.

Sorry for the mistake. I was seriously multi-tasking during the game. Blogging, writing a story about the Sikeston-Cape game, trying to take the appropriate notes to write a gamer on deadline for Cape-Dunklin County game and following along with the Jackson-Charleston Babe Ruth game for deadline reasons. Good times.

You mean Austin Jackson, right, yes sir? Otherwise I think we're on the same page now.
