Rachel Crader is the editor of semoball.com. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in May of 2009 before spending the summer covering the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Highlights from Rachel's days in college include having a class down the hall from Chase Daniel and having NCAA wrestling champion Ben Askren hold the door open for her at Brady Commons, Mizzou's student center. She spent time covering Mizzou basketball, softball and baseball while working for the Columbia Missourian and is excited to return home to Southeast Missouri to cover local sports for semoball.com.

Duncan traded!

The Cardinals have traded outfielder Chris Duncan after demoting him to Triple A Memphis earlier Wednesday.

Duncan is heading to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for shortstop Julio Lugo. Lugo was designated for assignment by Boston last week.

Brian Barden has been recalled from Memphis to fill Duncan's spot on the roster for now. I'm not sure what that means for Lugo in the immediate future. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Duncan is expected to be sent to the Red Sox's Triple A club.

My gut tells me this is leading to another trade. With this move, Brendan Ryan, Schumaker and one of our outfielders are more expendable.

This is a good trade because Dunc was just a waste of space on the Cardinal roster. I know that he was a hard worker, but it got to be really frustrating to see him struggle every single day. I know that TLR says that he treats all players the same, but he clearly favors Dunc over many players. I hope Chris excels in the DH role... which is all he is good for.
