High School boys basketball roundup, Nov. 29: Local teams put up big numbers at Oran Invitational Tournament

Chaffee boys basketball began its season on Tuesday night with a 73-58 loss to Richland in the opening round of the Oran Invitational Tournament, while Scott County Central scored 72 to push past Bell City in a 72-47 win for a first-round victory.

In the first game, Chaffee’s Blake Yarbro led the Red Devils with 20 points in a losing effort. In the second game, Scott County Central’s Marcus Warren scored 17 points to lead the Braves on Tuesday night, with Zavier Mize close behind with 14. Baylor Eftink’s 12 points led Bell City in the game.

Oran Invitational Tournament play continues throughout the week.

Saxony Lutheran 70, Grandview 16

Saxony Lutheran (1-0) opened its season Tuesday with a 70-16 win over Grandview in the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Tournament in Crystal City.

Jonathan Hartmann led the Crusaders in scoring on Tuesday night with 26 points in a winning effort.

Crusaders continue play in the tournament on Wednesday with a matchup against St. Vincent.
