CHAFFEE — For the first time in three years the Chaffee Red Devils have won more than one game.

Not only did Chaffee win, but the Devils did it in blowout fashion, beating visiting Doniphan 51-6 at Chaffee High School.

"The kids have been really focused all week on just taking care of the meat and potato stuff," Chaffee coach Jack Altermatt said. "We were really working on blocks and really hammering down on trying to be physical."

Red Devils' junior quarterback Carson Spies rushed for four touchdowns, while classmate Carter Cossou and seniors Seger Ruiz and Zaven Leible also found paydirt. Junior Levi McKinnie — who has been limited with an injury — hit a 35-yard field goal

"He's not able to play right now other than to kick because his shoulder is screwed up from last week," Altermatt said."

The loss is the 11th straight for the winless Dons.

"We've been focusing on setting realistic goals," Doniphan coach Jason Lance said. "they're sort of big-picture goals, day-to-day and small details we can focus on to be a better player."

The Red Devils (2-6) hope to win a second straight next week in a road game against Grandview.

Doniphan (0-8) will host Scott City on Friday for senior night.
