High School softball roundup, Sept. 29: Jackson takes out Chaffee in one-sided affair

Jackson defeated Chaffee 8-0 on Thursday at Chaffee High School.

At the plate, the Indians were led by freshman left fielder Madalyn Stelling who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs along with sophomore center fielder Rilee Monighan who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs of her own. Jackson's pitching was strong with freshman Ashlyn Dawes getting the start. She allowed just three hits while striking out 11 batters in a dominant outing.

For the Red Devils, sophomore pitcher Reese Van Pelt got the start and went the whole seven innings, allowing eight runs on 11 hits while striking out five. Five errors committed by the defense did not make her job any easier.

Jackson next visits Francis Howell Central for a Saturday doubleheader while Chaffee goes to Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
