Raiders New Years game at SAU Tech postponed

POPLAR BLUFF - The Three Rivers mens basketball team was supposed to play their first contest of 2022 at Southern Arkansas University Tech on Saturday, but on Tuesday, the game was postponed due to COVID-19 related issues within the Raiders basketball program according to Three Rivers coach and athletic director Brian Bess. Only Saturday's game against SAU Tech is affected.

"I found out (Tuesday morning) that they had to cancel Saturday's game," Bess said. "We're currently working on making it up later in the year and we'll turn our focus to conference play."

The Raiders will travel to State Fair on Jan. 5 for their next game after taking a break for the holidays. The last game Three Rivers played was back on Dec. 11, an 81-59 win over SAU Tech at the Libla Family Sports Complex.

"State Fair is going to be a tough team," Bess said. "All of the teams in our conference are going to be tough competition, but starting conference play on the road against State Fair makes it especially hard."

On the injury front for the Raiders, Bess said that Lamar Wilkerson has made improvements and has been shooting around with the team, but he cannot move laterally. Wilkerson suffered an ankle sprain during the game against SAU Tech.

Tip off at State Fair is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
