Boys Soccer Roundup, Sept. 27: Perryville stays hot, wins Hillsboro Tournament

The Perryville boys soccer team won its seventh straight game Saturday, beating host Hillsboro 5-0 in the championship game of the Hillsboro Invitational Tournament.

Bryce Brewer and Dayton Strattman led the Pirates offensively with two goals apiece, with Strattman scoring Perryville's first goal on a penalty kick in the first half.

After several missed scoring opportunities by both teams near the end of the first half, Perryville found the net four times after the break.

Strattman and Carson Adams each scored in the second half and Brewer made two goals, sealing the deal for the Pirates (10-1).

Goaltender Ty Baudendistel earned a shutout against the Hawks and the Pirates outscored opponents 23-1 throughout the tournament.

Strattman also led the Perryville with two assists in the game, followed by Kaden Laurentius and Dillon Schlimpert who had one each.

Perryville will take on DeSoto at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Jackson 10, Sikeston 2

The Jackson soccer team beat Sikeston 10-2 on Monday behind solid offensive games from Deonta Blair and Preston LaFave.

Blair and LaFave recorded two goals apiece, and Mason Grindstaff, Jacob Simmons, Aiden McMinn, Brayden Stowe, Kaivre James and Jake Miller also found the back of the net.

Blair, James and Grindstaff recorded two assists apiece and LaFave and Karl Dameron each had one.

Jackson (8-2-1) will play in the Kickapoo Tournament on Thursday through Saturday in Springfield, Mo.
