CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. — The Chaffee Red Devils overcame a 14-0 first-half deficit Friday night to defeat Crystal City 20-14.

Chaffee coach Will Daffron made some adjustments at halftime in a game he said was one of the “wildest games” he had ever coached.

The Red Devils fumbled the ball four times and threw and interception in the first half, but came out in the second half ready to go.

Red Devil sophomores Carson Spies, Levi McKinnie and Seger Ruiz all scored touchdowns en route to Chaffee’s victory.

Daffron credited the Hornets play Friday night, and said this year’s Crystal City team was the best one he has faced in his three years at Chaffee.

Chaffee (1-0) will travel to Charleston (0-1) next Friday night.

Park Hills Central 40, St. Vincent 0

The St. Vincent Indians struggled Friday night against Class 3 Park Hills Central, falling to the Rebels 40-0 in Perryville, Mo.

The Indians went into the locker room at halftime down 34-0, but coach Tim Schumer tried to find the positives in St. Vincent’s loss.

Schumer credited his defensive line and interior linebackers for keeping Park Hills’ running back in check, but offensively the Indians couldn’t find the end zone.

The Indians (0-1) will travel to Scott City to take on the Rams next Friday night.
