Four Sikeston athletes earn all-state honors at Class 4 meet

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Four members of the Sikeston track team earned all-state honors at the Class 4 state track and field championship Friday in Jefferson City.

Junior Carlos Posey earned all-state honors in two events. Posey finished fifth in the long jump, with a leap of 22-6 ˝. He also finished sixth in the high jump with a jump of 6-4 ˝.

Senior Daniel Lawrence earned all-state honors in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing fifth with a time of 40.82.

Lawrence also was in the 110-meter hurdles but an unfortunate false start kept him out of contention.

Posey and Lawrence also teamed with Jonathan Green and Dakwan Tilson in the 4x100 meter relay, falling just shy of all-state honors with a 10th place finish and a time of 44.37.

Junior Mark Fisher finished 12th in the discus competition with a throw of 129-10.

Both Sikeston girls who took part in the state meet earned all-state honors.

Senior Armani Hodges had the Bulldogs’ best finish of the meet, with a fourth place finish in the shot put, with a throw of 36-3 ˝.

Sophomore Reese Steward finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 16-7.
