SEMO Baseball Falls to Lipscomb, 3-0, on Friday

Lipscomb starting pitcher Ike Buxton was nearly untouchable on Friday, throwing seven scoreless innings, shutting down a very hot Southeast Missouri State offense, as the Bison shut out the Redhawks, 3-0.

SEMO had five runners in scoring position for the game, including two in the top of the ninth, but could not drive anyone of them in.

Buxton had alot to do with that, pounding the strike zone, not allowing a single walk, and only giving up two hits in seven innings of action.

The right handed starter struck out six SEMO hitters.

The Redhawks best chance to score came in the bottom of the ninth inning when Tyler Wilber walked and went to third on a pair of wild pitches by Lipscomb closer Tyler Guilfoil. Danny Wright then walked and stole second to give the Redhawks runners at second and third with no outs.

Guilfoil, however, settled down to record the next three outs to secure his fifth save of the season.

Bryce Grossius suffered the loss for SEMO, giving up three runs on five hits, striking out three and walking none in four innings pitched.

Offensively, Wilber, Lincoln Andrews and Connor Basler each recorded singles for the Redhawks three hits.

SEMO and Lipscomb wrap up their series today at 2 p.m.
