Girls Softball Roundup, Apr. 13: Advance pounds Scott County Central, 21-0

The Advance softball team won their ninth game of the season on the road Monday, plating 20 first inning runs, to beat Scott County Central, 20-1, in just three innings of play.

Freshman outfielder Kaylee Cline as well as freshman infielder Lily McCleary led the offensive explosion, with both players recording three hits.

Cline smacked a triple and drove in four runs, while McCleary had three singles, driving in two RBIs.

Cline scored three runs while McCleary scored two times.

Senior catcher Makayla Mikels smashed a bases clearing double, plating three runs, while starting pitcher Annabelle Duffield hate a base hit that scored three runs.

The Hornets pounded out 12 hits against Braves starting pitcher Madalynn Carlisle, who three all three innings for her team, giving up all 21 runs, collecting the loss.

Duffield started in the circle for Advance and recorded the win, throwing just one inning, allowing no runs, and no hits, striking out three and walking one.

Natalee Roper pitched the final two frames, allowing no runs on no hits, striking out three, while walking five.

Advance (9-3) will travel to Bloomfield (4-3) today, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.

Scott Co. Central (1-5) will travel to Charleston (0-6) on Wednesday, with play starting at 4:30 p.m.

Dexter 11, NMCC 4

Kennedy Bess’ run-scoring fielder’s choice in the second inning drove home the eventual game-winning run, and the Dexter softball team beat New Madrid County Central 11-4 Monday at New Madrid.

The Bearcats (3-5) scored four runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third and one in the fifth to take a commanding 9-0 lead.

NMCC (2-5) ended pitcher Amelia Jenkins’ shutout bid with two runs in the fifth.

Jenkins, the winning pitcher, allowed four runs on three hits with 12 strikeouts, four walks and two hit-batsmen in seven innings.

Carly Kimball was charged with the loss. NMCC pitching issued 10 walks in the loss.

Kinleigh Chappel and Hannah Pyles led the Bearcats with three hits apiece.

Chappell 3 for 4 with one walk, four runs scored and two RBIs. Pyles went 3 for 4 with a double, two walks, one run scored and one RBI.

Bess finished 2 for 4 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs, and Alexis Ingram went 2 for 4 with a walk and two RBIs.

Scott City 15, Bernie 0

Olivia Ponder and Logan Schwitz each drove in three RBIs, while Avery O'Brien, Alyssa Dirden, and Aleah Morrill plated two runs each, leading Scott City to a shut out victory over Bernie on Monday, 15-0.

Ponder and Chloe Venable each homered in the contest, while Dirden and Morrill tripled home their RBIs.

The Rams accumulated seven hits in the three innings of play.

Rams starting pitcher Mackenzie Lawless three the complete three innings, not allowing any runs or hits, striking out five while issuing two free passes.

Scott City (5-4) will travel to Park Hills to take on Park Hills Central Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Delta 10, Puxico 2

Delta lead-off hitter and starting pitcher Lacey Blattel went 3 for 4 at the plate, scoring three runs, also stole two bases, also threw four innings of one run ball, to lead her Bobcats to a road win at Puxico Monday, 10-2.

Blattel struck out three Puxico Indians while in the circle, also walking three.

Pinch-hitter Hanna Bond drove in two RBIs.

Trinity Vandeven also had a nice game at the dish, going 2 for 3, driving in a run and scoring a run.

Senior Gracey Wilkerson recorded a hit in two plate appearances for Puxico, also driving in a run, while drawing two walks.

Alivia Taylor was on the losing end in the circle, giving up 10 runs in 6 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking four.

Delta (3-2) will host Oak Ridge today at 4:30 p.m.

Puxico (1-5) is also back in action today, with a road contest at Greenville at 4:30 p.m.

Oran 14, Woodland 4

A big 10-run, fourth inning was the deciding factor in the Oran defeat of Woodland on Monday, as Molly Spane, Rylee Boshell, Hope Woodfin, Daliani Bryant, and Kennedi McVay all drove in runs in the inning, leading the Eagles to a 14-4 win on the road.

Oran scored two runs each in the first two innings, while Woodland scored one in the first inning, then scored two more in the third inning to keep the game close.

Then, the wheels came off for Woodland, as starting pitcher Lilley Long was rocked for 10 runs in the inning. Long suffered the loss, giving up 14 runs on 12 hits, striking out five while walking five.

Spane gained the win on the mound, throwing all five innings, striking out seven, while walking four, giving up nine hits.

Chloe Goodwin and Riley Massa led the Cardinals with two hits each, while four Woodland hitters each drove in runs (Goodwin, Rhodie Long, Lilley Long, Malorie Miles).

Oran (9-1) will host Malden (8-2) today at 4:30 p.m. while Woodland (3-3) will host Leopold today at 4:30 p.m.

Advance 9, Meadow Heights 0

The Advance offense smashed 18 hits, including four hits from Alandry Below and four RBIs from Mikayla Mikels, to lead the Hornets past Meadow Heights Friday, 9-0.

Second baseman Danielle Markham went 3 for 3 in the game, and scored three runs, while Kaylee Kline, Natalie Ford, Natalee Roper, and Annabelle Duffield each had two knocks in the home victory.

Duffield collected the win in the pitching circle, throwing a complete game shut out, giving up just two hits, while striking out six and walking three.

The two hits for the Panthers were collected by Marissa Byrd and Ashley Gruenke.

Mattison Webb was on the losing end on the mound, giving up nine runs on 18 hits

in four innings.

Webb struck out four and walked two.

Kennett 16, Senath-Hornersville 1

Kennett scored in all four innings it batted as it beat the visiting Campbell Camels 16-1 in four innings Monday.

Campbell enjoyed a 1-0 after it scored its only run in the top of the first inning. Kennett followed with a run in the first inning, six runs in the second frame, three runs in the third inning, and six more in the fourth inning.

Kaytie Hurst finished 2 for 4 with a team-high five RBI for Kennett. Audrey Phillips was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, Hadley Wilson went 2 for 3 with four RBIs Anelle Harris finished 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs, Adelynn Nelson was 2 for 3 with one RBI, and Olivia Ort was 3 for 4 with one RBI..

Wilson pitched all four innings for Kennett. She allowed one run, two hits, struck out six, and walked one.

Campbell (0-5) is slated to host Delta C-7 Tuesday.

Kennett (9-3) visits undefeated East Carter County Tuesday.

Senath-Hornersville with Southland 13, Caruthersville 3

Senath-Hornersville with Southland scored in every inning it batted as it cruised past visiting Caruthersville 13-3 in five innings Monday.

Katie McClelland, who finished 2 for 4, drove home a team-high four RBIs for Senath-Hornersville with Southland. Jenna Gibson, who finished 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles, collected two RBIs. Abby Vilchis, who went 3 for 3, also had two RBIs.

Emma Sample, Sissy Johnson, and Jada Burlison each drove home one run for Senath-Hornersville with Southland.

Jaci Wilkins drove home two runs and Alana Jones drove home one run from Caruthersville.

Sissy Johnson earned a complete-game win for Senath-Hornersville with Southland. She allowed three earned runs, seven hits, struck out four, and walked zero.
