Boys Baseball Roundup, Mar. 30: Enderle goes 5 for 5 with three home runs in win against Bernie, Monday

Third-place hitting Andrew Enderle went 5 for 5 against Bernie Monday, driving in seven RBIs, hitting three home runs, to lead Scott City past the Mules, 19-10.

Enderle homered in the first inning, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, homered again early in the sixth inning, and finally wrapping up his day with another home run of the grand slam variety, later in the same inning.

The Rams offense slugged out 19 runs off of 15 hits, eight of those in were the extra-base kind.

Logan Speakman recorded three hits in five at-bats, smashing two doubles and a triple while driving in three RBIs.

Chase Venable went 2 for 5 in the game, also smashing a double and driving in three runs.

Starting pitcher Skler Sykes earned the win, throwing five innings, giving up three earned runs (six runs total) on four hits, striking out seven but also walking seven.

Blake Wilburn finished up the game, pitching 2 innings, giving up four earned runs on three hits, walking one, and was unable to record a strikeout.

Mules starting pitcher Jonathan Vaughn recorded the loss, throwing just three innings, giving up six earned runs (seven total) on six hits, striking out two batters while walking three.

Scott City (4-1) hosts Advance (4-2) today, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m. while Bernie (2-3) travels to Dexter (1-3) on Thursday with game time at 4:30 p.m.

Kelly 3, Chaffee 1

Senior starting pitcher Bryce Morgan pitched a whale of a game Monday against Chaffee, throwing six innings, allowing just one run on one hit, striking out 12 while walking three, leading his Hawks to a home field win, 3-1.

The Kelly offense supplied just enough run support to earn Morgan the win, as outfielder Gavin Jansen recorded two hits in three at-bats, driving in a run and also scoring a run, to lead the Hawks offensively.

Fellow outfielder Joel McClain drove in the other run, going 1 for 3 in the game.

The Red Devil's only hit came courtesy of Brennan Fowler, who singled off of Morgan in the first inning.

Jagger Sadler recorded the only RBI in the game for Chaffee.

The losing pitcher for the Red Devils, Alec Brown, started the game and pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits, striking out four and walking two.

Kelly (7-0) will look to stay undefeated when they host Woodland on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Chaffee (4-1) will look to get back on the winning bandwagon today as they travel to Portageville (4-1) with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.

Saxony Lutheran 10, Oak Ridge 0

Saxony Lutheran starting pitcher Wilson Lodge was one walk away from pitching a perfect game Saturday against Oak Ridge, but the junior hurler collected the no-hitter, going five innings, not allowing a hit, striking out nine while walking just one.

Lodge received plenty of run support, as Carson Birk led the Crusaders with two hits and also drove in a run.

Lodge helped his own cause, recording a hit and an RBI at the plate.

Four other Saxony Lutheran hitters drove in runs,

Lodge earned the win for the Crusaders, while the Blue Jays starting pitching collected the loss, throwing three innings, giving up just one earned run (five runs total), striking out four, and walking one.

Reliever Justin Ward didn't fare quite as well, throwing just 1 2/3 innings, allowing four earned on four hits, striking out one, and walking two.

Saxony Lutheran (4-0) will host East Prairie (1-2) today at 4:30 p.m.

Oak Ridge (0-6) will play on April 6 at Leopold, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.

Oran 9, Southern Reynolds 6

Designated Hitter Luke Peterson went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored Saturday in the first game of a double-dip, as Oran defeated Southern Reynolds on the road, 9-6.

Brother Stephen Peterson collected one hit in three at-bats, and also drove in two runs while third baseman Dawson Menz went 2 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the victory.

Starting pitcher Kaden Hargrove collected the win on the mound, throwing four innings, giving up five earned runs on nine hits, striking out four while not issuing a walk.

Reliever Connor Kern shut down the Red Birds late, throwing two innings of shutout ball, striking out two while walking one.

Oran (4-1) would play Valle Catholic right after the contest with Southern Reynolds.

Oran 6, Valle Catholic 3

In the second of the double-dipper for Oran on Saturday, the Eagles won 6-3 behind three hits and three RBIs produced by Kaden Hargrove to lead Oran past the Warriors.

Dawson Menz recorded more hits, going 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

Starting pitcher Ty Johnson also recorded two hits, going 2 for 4 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.

Johnson recorded the W on the mound for the Eagles, throwing 6 2/3 innings of solid pitching, giving up just three earned runs on five hits, striking out three and walking four.

Oran (4-1) will host 1-2 Delta on Wednesday, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.

Bell City 14, Woodland 4

The Bell City Cubs blew open a tight game with an eight-run fifth inning Monday and beat Woodland 14-4 in an SCAA baseball game at Bell City.

The Cubs led 6-4 entering the bottom of the fifth where they ended the game early on the 10-run mercy rule.

Bell City (2-1, 1-0 SCAA) took advantage of 10 walks and four errors by the Cardinals (2-2, 1-1).

Nate Stone went 3 for 3 with a homer and one RBI for Bell City, who finished with seven hits. JT Robey went 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

Lane Vangennip went 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI for the Cardinals. Kiren Lindley went 2 for 3 and Rafe Johnson went 1 for 3 with two RBIs.

Austin Hunt picked up the victory, allowing four runs — three earned — on five hits with five strikeouts and four walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Trenton Braswell was charged with the loss, yielding five runs — two earned — on two hits with three strikeouts and four walks in three innings.

Advance 20, Oak Ridge 3

The Advance Hornets spotted Oak Ridge a 3-0 lead before roaring back for a 20-3 victory.

The Hornets, who took advantage of 12 walks issued by Oak Ridge pitching, scored seven runs in the third, fourth in the fourth and nine in the sixth.

Landon Dailey and Kip Holman had three hits and four RBIs apiece for the Hornets, who amassed 12 hits. Jed Garner went 2 for 2 with three runs scored, and Jack Bailey and Layton Keith doubled and had two RBIs apiece.

Konnor Hobeck’s double accounted for one of Oak Ridge’s two hits.

Dailey picked up the win, allowing no runs on one hit with one walk and four strikeouts in four innings for Advance, who improved to 4-2.

Garrett Seabaugh was charged with the loss, giving up 11 runs — 10 earned — on eight hits with five strikeouts and five walks in four innings.

Oak Ridge fell to 0-6.

Bloomfield 8, Zalma 7

Jordan Schlueter tripled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and the Bloomfield Wildcats beat Zalma 8-7 Monday at Bloomfield.

Zalma, who trailed 6-3 after four innings, scored three in the top of the sixth to take an 8-7 lead.

Schlueter secured the victory, allowing no runs on three hits with four strikeouts and one walk in two innings.

Will Robinson went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead the Wildcats’ 11-hit attack. Evan Shackles went 2 for 2 with a triple and one RBI. Blake Wagster went 2 for 4 with a double. Gavin Chasteen and Kayden Vaughn each doubled.
