Boys Basketball Roundup, Dec. 15: Delta shreds nets; puts 107 on Scott County Central

It must've felt like the middle of summer in Delta's gymnasium Friday night because that's how hot the Bobcat's offense was as they scorched the Scott Co. Central defense, beating the Braves 107-74.

Delta scored 35 points in the opening quarter, outscoring Scott Central by 27 and didn't cool off in the 2nd quarter, scoring 34 more. The Braves made a game of it in the second period, putting up 33 points of their own.

But it was all Delta from there.

Seniors Dale Lincoln and Evan Bartels led the way for Bobcats(3-2) with 35 and 25 points respectively.

Lanson Cox and Hunter Ourth each added 12 points each in the offensive onslaught.

Scott Central(1-4) was paced in scoring by senior Bralyn Porter with 19.

Four other Braves were in double figures as well(Kaden Sadler, Demarion Maney, Levi Glueck, and Keron Banks) to keep the contest somewhat close.

Delta will host Meadow Heights tonight at 7:30 p.m. while Scott County Central will play at Chaffee Friday with junior varsity starting at 6 p.m.

No. 1 seeded East Carter County 75, No. 8 Malden JV 41

CLARKTON - Preston Golden tallied a game-high 28 points to help No. 1 seeded East Carter County beat the No. 8 seeded Malden junior varsity 75-41 in a quarterfinal at the Clarkton Christmas Tournament Monday.

East Carter County enjoyed a 49-19 lead by halftime. Raymond Ochoa recorded a dozen points for East Carter County. Eli Marvin and Levin Boyer also finished in double digits with 10 points a piece.

Justin Carter paced Malden with 17 points.

East Carter County (5-1) will play host Clarkton in a championship semifinal Thursday at 6 p.m.

The No. 4 seeded Clarkton Reindeer edged the No. 5 seeded Malden Green Wave 56-52 in a quarterfinal of the Clarkton Christmas Tournament Monday.

The game was tied at 24-all at halftime before Clarkton won the third quarter by six points and played Malden even in the fourth quarter.

Caleb Plunkett hit two of Clarkton’s three treys. He finished with a game-high 18 points.

Izaya Gorman added 14 points and Rica Brown scored a dozen points for the Reindeer.

Coy Wade paced Malden with 22 points. Sientez Lerma also finish in double digits for Malden with 11 points.

Clarkton (2-3) will play defending champion East Carter County in a championship semifinal Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Malden (0-5) will take on its junior varsity squad in a consolation semifinal Tuesday at 4 p.m.

After a slow start by both teams, the Twin Rivers boys basketball team took control over the middle two quarters of a 48-23 victory over Puxico on Monday night at Broseley.

The Royals led 2-0 after one quarter, 17-8 after two and 40-16 after three.

Jolby Jones paced Twin Rivers (4-1) with 13 points, and Brandon Tompkins had 12.

Dalton Andrews led Puxico with 12 points.

The Indians (2-4) played without starters David Holyfield, who was ill, and Nolan Foster, who injured his knee in the first half.

The Bell City boys basketball team fell behind early and never caught up in a 64-35 loss to the Bulldogs on Monday night at Gideon.

Gideon (3-3) held quarter leads of 23-8, 40-18 and 53-26.
