Volleyball Roundup, Oct. 27: Meadow Heights advances to first district championship game in 14 years downing Valley(Caledonia)

The Meadow Heights volleyball team advanced to the championship game in the C1D4 district held at Bismarck High School, beating Valley 25-16, 25-23, and 25-14.

For the Panthers, it is the first time since 2006 they have advanced to the district championship game.

Lone Senior Gracie Cook led the charge for Meadow Heights recording 15 kills and adding 16 digs.

Kylee Denman had 13 assists, eight digs, and added two aces.

Ashley Gruenke totaled 15 digs and added an ace serve.

Ashley Allen had 13 assists, seven digs, and two aces while Miranda Green finished with five kills and three blocks.

Kambri Erzfeld added eight kills, 11 digs and also added an ace serve.

The Panthers will play the winner of the other semi-final matchup between Oak Ridge and Crystal City Thursday at 6 p.m.

Woodland 3, Bloomfield 2

The Woodland Cardinals came back from being down two sets to win the C2D2 championship Tuesday beating Bloomfield in five sets, 19-25, 21-25, 25-14, 25-12, and 17-15.

Addie Johnson led the Cardinals with a team high 22 kills and added 11 digs.

Emma Brown also helped in the come back win, recording 14 kills along with seven digs.

Ally Whitener had a game high 33 assists, setting up her teammates for kill opportunities.

She also had 12 digs and four kills.

Kaitlyn Zajicek finished 15 assists and 13 and Mallorie Miles had eight digs, helping her Woodland Cardinals to the championship.

Woodland will play in the sectionals Saturday against Valle Catholic or West County(C2D4 champ).
