Soccer Roundup, Oct. 12: Sikeston earns first win over Farmington since 2012

FARMINGTON, Mo. — Sikeston picked up its first win over Farmington since 2012 on Monday.

The Bulldogs defeated the Knights 1-0, thanks to a goal from Brice Gordon. Dylan Thornbrough helped the cause with an assist.

“It was back-and-forth most of the first half with both teams creating solid opportunities,” Sikeston head coach Gabe Dement said. “We earned a free kick in the final third, and Dylan Thornbrough placed a nice back post ball that Brice Gordon finished off with a header as he ran into the post. It was a great hustle play. John Martin Boner at goalie and Trey Drake at center-back kept the back-four organized while we fought back to clear chance after chance as Farmington pushed hard for the equalizer.”

Sikeston (3-9) plays at Perryville Thursday and home against Notre Dame on Monday. Both games are at 5 p.m.
