Kennett football team adds St. Pius X to schedule, Malden picks up Perryville for Friday night

Two Dunklin County football squads will have to travel a bit further than originally planned for their Week 4 football contests Friday.

Kennett’s game at Caruthersville and Malden’s game at Chaffee have been cancelled.

Kennett has added St. Pius X to its schedule in place of Caruthersville. Malden has added Perryville to its schedule in place of Chaffee. Both games are slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday night.

St. Pius X was originally slated to take on nearby rival Jefferson and Perryville was scheduled to take on Fredericktown but both of those games were call off also.

Seating will be limited at the Kennett/St. Pius X contest in Festus. Fans who wish to attend must pick up a voucher at the Kennett High School office Friday while supplies last. There will also be a designated seating area at the game for fans to sit with lawn chairs if they do not wish to sit in the bleachers.

There are no seating restrictions at the Malden/Perryville football game in Perryville.

Kennett is off to a 3-0 start to its season after beating Malden 64-8 in Week 1, beating Doniphan 53-7 in Week 2, and beating Ste. Genevieve 49-13 in Week 3. St. Pius X is 2-1 after beating Charleston 45-26 in Week 1, losing at Piggott (Ark.) 12-0 in Week 2, and beating Grandview 41-16 in Week 3.

Malden (1-2) fell to Kelly 48-6 in Week 2 and beat Charleston 36-12 in Week 3 after taking on Kennett in its opener. Perryville (1-1) fell to St. Clair 42-0 in Week 1 before beating Windsor 38-18 in Week 2. Its Week 3 game against Park Hills Central was cancelled.
