MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: St. Vincent boys basketball rolls past Valle Catholic

St. Vincent used a 16-7 second-quarter advantage to eventually knock off Valle Catholic 58-40 in boy's basketball action in Ste. Genevieve.

The Indians (9-2) continued their positive momentum into the second half and outscored the Warriors 29-21.

Three St. Vincent players were in double figures led by Shawn Koishor and Colby Hager with 14, while Garrett Dobbelare notched 11.

Carter Hogg paced Valle Catholic (6-4) with 13.

Cape Central jumped out to a 23-18 halftime lead in its 62-42 thrashing of host Arcadia Valley.

The Tigers (8-3) were strong to the finish by outscoring Arcadia Valley 15-4 in the final eight minutes to seal the win.

Alivia Capshaw and Taylor Horton each poured in 20 points to pace the winners, while Ella Vogel chipped in 10 points.

Grace Smith led the hosts with 15.

The Indians led just 21-18 at halftime of its opening game of the Delta New Year's Tournament Monday but exploded for a 24-6 third-quarter advantage to eventually dominate Meadow Heights 52-27.

St. Vincent (8-3) sank four 3-pointers, one of which was by Addie Cates, who led her team with 13 points.

Megan Lipe added 11 in the win.

The Panthers (4-5) were led by Gracie Cook with six points.

Meadow Heights will face Advance in the consolation semifinal Wednesday at 5:15 p.m., while St. Vincent moves on the championship semifinal against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. that night.
