MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: Scott City boys use big quarter to turn aside Bernie, 59-40

The Scott City boys basketball team broke open a tight game against visiting Bernie with a 17-point scoring advantage in the third quarter in a 59-40 victory Friday at Scott City High School.

The Rams held a slim 24-22 lead at halftime before outscoring the Mules 20-3 in the pivotal period.

Camden Connor paced Scott City (7-4) with 19 points. Joe Panagos added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Spencer Stratman finished with seven points and eight assists.

Landon Zoll led Bernie with 14 points.

Meadow Heights jumped out to a 16-point lead by halftime and held off a second-half surge by the visiting Red Devils.

Chase Conrad scored a game-high 17 points for the Panthers (4-5), who led 33-17 at intermission. Teammate Josh Acord finished with 10 points.

Alec Brown paced three Red Devils in double figures with 15 points. Brian Kilburn netted 12 points and Wyatt Parker had 10.
