High school girl's basketball teams throughout Southeast Missouri recently opened their 2019-20 seasons.

Here is a look at the area teams covered by the Southeast Missourian.

CAPE CENTRAL

Class 4 District 1

Conference: SEMO

Head coach: Brandon Winters (1st year, 7th overall)

Last season record: 9-17

Postseason result: Lost to Dexter 76-29 in the district semifinals

Returning starters: Alivia Capshaw, jr; Ella Vogel, so.

Key newcomers: Ki Bogan, fr.; Taylor Horton, fr.

Coach on a successful season: Our goal is to be more competitive not only in our conference but in the area as well.

CHAFFEE

Class 2 District 3

Conference: Scott-Mississippi

Head coach: Richard Nixon (4th year, 6th overall)

Last season record: 16-11

Postseason result: Lost to St. Vincent 41-34 in the district semifinals

Coach on a successful season: Just compete on a nightly basis. ... We will have to defend and box out very well almost every trip because we are not very big.

DELTA

Class 1 District 2

Conference: Scott-Mississippi

Head coach: David Heeb (2nd year, 11 years)

We have 13 players, with 12 being freshmen and sophomores. Our goal is to be one of those teams with a chance to win our district at the end of the year and make a run at the state tournament.

EAGLE RIDGE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Conference: Metro Athletics Conference

Head coach: Christy Margrabe (1st year)

Postseason result: Missouri Christian Schools Athletics Association (MCSAA) state champions
