About NMCC: NMCC beat Malden 65-18 in Week 1, NMCC beat East Prairie 46-6 in Week 2, NMCC beat Dexter 43-15 in Week 3, NMCC beat Doniphan 54-6 in Week 4, and Hayti beat NMCC 34-30 in Week 5. NMCC averages 48 points per game but scored a season-low 30 points last week against state-ranked Hayti. NMCC ran the ball 29 times for 93 yards and completed nine of 30 passes for 169 yards last week. Quazavion Jackson and Bryshawn Williams were the only backs to run for positive yardage against Hayti. Jackson had 25 carries for 76 yards and one rushing touchdown. Williams had three carries for 24 yards. Matt Riley completed 7 of 28 passes for 123 yards. He threw two touchdown passes and three interceptions against Hayti. Riley completed passes for big yardage to Kenyon King, Jaden McFerren, and Austin Davis. King had two catches for 46 yards, McFerren had three catches for 46 yards, and Davis had three catches for 85 yards.

About Kennett: Kennett, which is ranked No. 6 in the latest Class 3 state poll, beat Fredericktown 49-0 in Week 1, beat Gosnell (Ark.) 44-8 in Week 2, beat Ste. Genevieve 33-0 in Week 3, beat Caruthersville 41-22 in Week 4, and beat North County 45-6 in Week 5. Kennett starting quarterback Bodey Ellis is expected to return this week after missing the last two games with a head injury. Ellis has completed 12 of 24 passes for 145 yards and rushed the ball 27 times for 169 yards in the first three games this season. Kennett is a run-first squad that has moved the ball 180 times for 1,636 yards on the ground and completed 21 of 39 passes for 267 yards. Marsayv’aun Harrell has a team-high 62 carries for 613 yards and eight rushing touchdowns. Jordan Jarrett, La’Quez Pulliam, Justin Hunt, and Joquan Williams are also candidates to make big plays rushing the ball. Last week Pulliam had a 72-yard rushing touchdown against North County. Carter Maddox has caught a team-high six passes for 48 yards. The Kennett defense, which allows seven points per game, has forced 16 turnovers this season. Latrevio’n Thompson and Demarion Lemons each had four tackles for Kennett last week.


HAYTI AT MALDEN

LAST MEETING: Hayti beat Malden 70-0

LAST WEEK: East Prairie beat Malden 35-30; Hayti beat NMCC 34-30

HEAD TO HEAD STREAK: Malden has won seven of the last 10 meetings.

About Hayti: Hayti, which is ranked No. 5 in the latest Class 1 state poll, lost to Thayer 30-12 in Week 1, beat Charleston 36-7 in Week 2, beat Chaffee 74-0 in Week 3, beat East Prairie 60-14 in Week 4, and beat NMCC 34-30 in Week 5. Hayti committed three turnovers last week but managed to intercept a pass in the closing minutes to secure a 34-30 victory against previously unbeaten NMCC. Hayti moved the ball primarily on the ground last week, rushing the ball 40 times for 269 yards and completing 11 of 24 passes for 85 yards. Adreian Stevenson paced Hayti on the ground with 16 carries for 188 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Travonatae Stevenson added five carries for 101 yards and one rushing touchdown. Quarterback Tray’von Thomas completed 13 of 23 passes. He threw one touchdown pass and one interception. Thomas completed at least one pass to six different receivers with Travontae Stevenson catching a team-high three passes for 31 yards.

About Malden: NMCC beat Malden 65-18 in Week 1, Caruthersville beat Malden 54-6 in Week 2, Malden beat Portageville 48-12 in Week 3, Kelly beat Malden 35-14 in Week 4, and East Prairie beat Malden 35-30 in Week 5. Malden rallied from a 29-8 halftime deficit last week to move ahead of East Prairie 30-29 but eventually lost 35-30. Malden finally enjoyed some success moving the ball on the ground last week, carrying the ball 21 times for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Penalties hindered the Green Wave’s ability to build momentum. Malden committed 12 penalties for 80 yards against East Prairie. Malden’s offense did display the ability to put together big plays last week. Drew Blankinship had a 44-yard run for a touchdown and Lamar Smith returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown.
