STATESMAN ROUNDUP: Bloomfield baseball rallies from 5-0 deficit with six-run rally in seventh inning; Bernie volleyball wins

The Bloomfield Wildcats scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Woodland 6-5 in an SCAA baseball game Friday at Bloomfield.

Woodland pitching issued four walks and hit a batter in the seventh.

Ethan Hutchison grounded an RBI double to left field, Jordan Schlueter singled home a run, Gage McNeil scored when Will Robison was struck by a pitch, Schlueter scored on a bases-loaded walk, Kayden Vaughn scored the tying run on a wild pitch and Christian Hartlein scored the game-winner on a single by Blake Wagster.

Thomas Chamberlain picked up the win, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out three in 2 2/3 scoreless innings.

Lane VanGennip was credited with the loss, permitting one run on one hit with one walk and no strikeouts in one-third of an inning.

Seven different Bloomfield players recorded one hit apiece with Nic Carter and Hutchison doubling.

The Wildcats improved to 6-6, while Woodland fell to 2-2.

Twin Rivers 12, Bell City 5

The Bell City baseball team committed four errors and lost for the first time this season, falling 12-5 to Twin Rivers on Friday at Broseley.

Five of Twin Rivers’ runs were unearned, as the Royals jumped out to an 11-0 lead after two innings.

Jacob Guess was the winning pitcher, yielding four runs on three hits with two strikeouts and seven walks in four innings.

Nate Stone was charged with the loss, giving up 11 runs — six earned — on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk in two innings.

Six different Bell City players had one hit each. Austin Hunt and Stone doubled, and Jeffery Allen had a team-high three RBIs, as the Cubs fell to 8-1.

Twin Rivers improved to 3-5.

VOLLEYBALL

Bernie 2, Clarkton 0

The Bernie volleyball team bounced back from its loss to Dexter with a 25-15, 25-21 win over Clarkton on Friday night at Bernie High School.

Dexter beat the Mules 25-15, 25-10 Thursday night.

Bernie improved to 5-2.

No individual statistics were reported.
