Cape Catfish drop fourth straight game, fall 7-6 to Hannibal Hoots

The Cape Catfish suffered their fourth straight loss Sunday, falling 7-6 to the visiting Hannibal Hoots at Capaha Field.

Cape (22-12) scored a run in the first, but Hannibal (10-20) responded with five runs in the second and led the rest of the way.

Bay Witcher took the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits in two innings.

Damian Yenzi's two-run homer in the third extended Hannibal's lead to 7-3.

The Catfish got within one in the fourth thanks to a Curtis Washington three-run homer, but that was as close as they got. After the early fireworks, neither team scored a run in the final five innings.

Andrew Keck, Ellison Hanna and Chris Jordan each had two hits, combining for six of Cape's nine base hits.

Yenzi totaled a game-high three hits.

Derek Boben was the winning pitcher, giving up three runs in 3 2/3 innings of relief.

Despite the losing streak, Cape remains in first place in the west division of the Prospect League and is 2 1/2 games ahead of the second-place DuPage Pistol Shrimp.
