SD ROUNDUP: Three-run seventh helps Sikeston baseball defeat North County 7-4; Kelly scores 19 unanswered runs to beat Meadow Heights

BONNE TERRE, Mo. — A three-run seventh inning was the deciding factor in the Sikeston baseball team’s victory over North County on Wednesday.

Heading into the seventh up two runs, Lestyn Thompson started off the frame with a walk.

Nate Self then singled to advance Thompson to second, and Payton Howard reached on an error to load the bases.

Jeffery Thornbrough would then ground into a fielder’s choice, as Thompson was forced out at home, and Nolan Self reached on an error, that plated the fifth run of the game for the Bulldogs.

Another error by North County, this time by the first baseman, allowed two more runs to cross, and Sikeston took a 7-2 lead heading into the home half of the inning.

North County responded with two runs of its own in that frame, making the top half of the inning that much more important in the end.

Nate went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a home run. He was the only Bulldogs player to record multiple hits.
