SD ROUNDUP: Sikeston golf's Austin Crawford advances to Class 3 state tournament; Carson Aycock pitches no-hitter for East Prairie baseball

DEXTER, Mo. — Carson Aycock and the East Prairie baseball team spoiled the Dexter Bearcats’ senior day Monday at East Park.

Aycock pitched a no-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one in seven innings.

Senior Caleb Hoggard was charged with the loss, allowing two runs on three hits with no strikeouts or walks in one inning. Hoggard was one of seven pitchers used by the Bearcats.

Aycock hit a run-scoring double and Lane Moody had a run-scoring single in the third inning for East Prairie, which improved to 11-6.

Dexter (3-17) honored six seniors before the game. They were Hoggard, Dawson Jones, Ethan Kincy, Luke Thurston, Tristan Williams and Tyler Wright.

Chaffee 5, East Carter 3

ELLSINORE, Mo. — Dalton Rudd's two home runs were not enough to push past Chaffee as the Red Devils picked up the win.

Andrew Brown gave up two home runs but struck out five in his complete-game win, and responded to Rudd's home runs with a three-run blast himself.

Bell City 5, Oran 4

BELL CITY, Mo. — Bell City pieced together a late-inning comeback as all five of its runs came in the fifth and sixth innings.

Ty Johnson entered the game in the fifth and took the loss for Oran (8-8). Nate Stone pitched six innings and allowed a home run but picked up the win after fanning five batters.

Kole Simms smacked a home run and a double. He was one of three Eagles to register a hit in the loss.

DEXTER, Mo. — The Dexter boys tennis team advanced to the championship match of the Class 1 District 1 tournament for the fifth straight year with a 5-o win over Sikeston on Monday at T.S. Hill Middle School.

The Bearcats (8-6) will meet the winner of the Notre Dame-North County semifinal at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the championship match at Cape Girardeau. Notre Dame and North County will meet at 4 p.m. today in Cape.

FARMINGTON, Mo. — Austin Crawford qualified for the Class 3 state boys golf tournament on Monday, after posting a round of 87 at Crowne Point Golf Course in Farmington, Mo.

Dexter finished fourth as a team, shooting 333.

Dylan Sitze tied for fifth with a round of 78. Spencer Warren shot 80 to tie for 13th, while Ryan Collier shot 84 to tie for 19th.
