DDD Roundup: Kennett & Holcomb softball teams collect run-rule wins

STEELE, Mo. - The Kennett softball team improved to 8-6 with a 15-0 four-inning victory at South Pemiscot Wednesday.

Kennett scored 14 of its 15 runs in the final two innings it batted.

Kennett leadoff hitter Kyra Jaco and Kennett cleanup hitter Caroline Byers both finished 2 for 3 with one RBI. Kennett pinch hitter Jaden Yates had a hit and two RBIs. Kennett No. 2 hitter Emillie Johnson, No. 3 hitter Anelle Harris, and No. 5 hitter Audrey Phillips each had a hit and one RBI.

Johnson pitched four scoreless innings for Kennett in the circle. She allowed three hits, struck out nine, and walked one.

Kennett is back in action Tuesday at 5 p.m. when it hosts Dyer County (Tenn.).

Holcomb 22, Caruthersville 0

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. - The undefeated Holcomb Hornets softball team blistered host Caruthersville 22-0 in three innings Wednesday.

Holcomb leadoff hitter Macy Houart set the tone at the plate. Houart finished 4 for 4 with a team-high five RBIs. She hit two home runs and a double.

Holcomb No. 5 hitter Jayden Kendrick went 3 for 3 with four RBIs. Kendrick recorded a pair of triples.

Holcomb cleanup hitter Alyssa Brown was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. All three of Brown’s hits were doubles.

Holcomb No. 2 hitter Bailey Cupples had a hit and one RBI, Holcomb No. 3 hitter Hannah Burk went 2 for 4 with four RBIs, Holcomb No. 6 hitter Montana Long finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs, and Holcomb No. 9 hitter Carli Morgan had a 2 RBI hit.

Brown pitched all three innings for Holcomb. She allowed two hits, struck out six, and walked zero.

Holcomb (14-0) visits Senath-Hornersville Monday at 6 p.m.
