Portageville, South Pemiscot advance to consolation championship of BCT

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - No. 8 seeded Portageville will take on No. 10 seeded South Pemiscot in the consolation championship of the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament Saturday at 4 p.m.

Both squads won their respective consolation semifinals by double digits Friday

South Pemiscot (4-4) won the second consolation semifinal against No. 14 seeded Malden 69-32.

South Pemiscot led 13-8 after one quarter, increased its lead to 28-15 by halftime, and led 53-28 by the end of the third quarter.

All 30 of the South Pemiscot’s field goals were 2-pointers.

Five players for South Pemiscot tallied at least nine points with Jamarea Rogers leading the way with 17 points. Terryon Johnson added 14 points, DeCharles Johnson contributed 11 points, Noah Willingham scored nine points, and Antonio Fuller finished with nine points.

Lonnie Hamilton recorded a dozen of his team-high 16 points for Malden before halftime.

Malden (1-8) is off until Jan. 3 when it hosts Caruthersville.

Portageville beat No. 13 seeded Bloomfield 53-37 in the first consolation semifinal.

Portageville (8-2) enjoyed a 32-18 lead against Bloomfield by halftime and led by double digits throughout the second half.

Six player scored at least six points for Portageville with Bub Lance leading the way with 15 points. Terry Kirkwood also finished in double digits for Portageville with 10 points.

Bloomfield’s highest scorer was Travis McCollough who scored nine points.
