SD ROUNDUP: Tipler’s late touchdowns leads East Prairie football to win; Charleston rolls over Herculaneum

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — The East Prairie Eagles needed two fourth quarter touchdown runs from Derez Tipler to notch a 32-22 win over visiting Fredericktown Friday night.

Trailing 22-16, Tipler scored on a 60-yard run with 8:37 remaining to give the Eagles a 24-22 lead after the two-point conversion. Tipler then put the game away with a 33-yard scoring run with 54 seconds remaining. The senior finished the day with 231 yards rushing on 20 carries and also caught five passes for 67 yards. He added a 65-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

East Prairie quarterback Carson Aycock completed 6 of 15 passes for 154 yards and one touchdown. Keaton Adams had 72 yards receiving on three catches with one score, a 46-yard pass from Aycock in the third quarter.

Jack Scruggs added 45 yards receiving on three catches.

Fredericktown quarterback Noah Korokis had touchdown runs of 35 and three yards while teammate Logan Bowling added a 59-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

East Prairie improves to 3-6 with the win while Fredericktown falls to 2-7.

Charleston 52, Herculaneum 6

HERCULANEUM, Mo. — Charleston’s Q’Nairies Anderson rushed for over 180 yards and three touchdowns in the first quarter alone as the Bluejays earned a road win over Herculaneum 52-6 Friday night.

After Herculaneum took the opening drive down the field and scored on a one-yard run from Jordan Duncan, the Bluejays responded with a heavy dose of Anderson. The senior, who is the school’s all-time leading rusher, scored on runs from 7, 88 and 31 in the quarter to give the Bluejays a 19-6 lead after one quarter.

James Durden scored on a three-yard run in the second quarter as the Bluejays led 25-6 at halftime.

Anderson, who had an 84-yard scoring run called back in the second quarter, added a 58-yard run in the third quarter to give Charleston a 33-6 lead and the Bluejays cruised to the 52-6 final.

The Bluejays finish the regular season with an 8-1 record, their first eight-win regular season since 2004.
