SIKESTON AT KENNETT

Notes: Sikeston has won 12 of the last 13 meetings and suffered its last loss to Kennett in 2007 during Kent Gibbs’ first year as head coach at Sikeston.

The Sikeston defense, which allows 14 points per game, forced four turnovers last week in its game with NMCC.

Sikeston’s offense, which scores only 21 points per game, scored two of its three touchdowns against NMCC on plays of more than 80 yards. Tra Ranson returned a kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown and Keon Graham returned an interception 84 yards for a touchdown.

Sikeston starting quarterback Gage Rolwing, who left last week’s game with an injury, has completed 56 of 120 passes for 683 yards and ran the ball 65 times for 295 yards.

Sophomore running back Jackson Kuykendall has 78 carries for a team-high 382 yards o the season.

A pair of quarterbacks have led Kennett’s offense.

Kennett senior quarterback Andrew Spence has completed 36 of 63 passes for 317 yards on the season. He has thrown six touchdown passes and two interceptions. He has started five games at quarterback but missed three starts due to a leg injury. He was seven for seven in extra point attempts as kicker but did not play the quarterback position last week.

Kennett sophomore quarterback Bodey Ellis has filled in nicely in Spence’s absence. He has completed 26 of 39 passes for 258 yards. He has thrown seven touchdown passes and no interceptions.

Marsayv’aun Harrell and Elijah Lemons have led Kennett’s ground attack. Harrell has 102 carries for 789 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. Lemons has 67 carries for 393 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.

Parker McClain caught three passes for 54 yards last week.

Carter Maddox has a team-high 18 catches for 301 yards on the season. He has seven touchdown receptions.

The Kennett defense, which allows 18 points per game, has forced 22 turnovers this season.


DEXTER AT MALDEN

Series History: Dexter leads 44-27-4

Last Meeting: Malden won 44-12

Last Week: Kennett beat Malden 49-0; Dexter beat Parks Hills 13-7

Notes: Malden has won the last six meetings. Dexter’s last win over Malden was in 2011.

About Dexter: Dexter (3-4) was beaten by Ste. Genevieve 21-0 in Week 1, Dexter beat Salem 28-20 in Week 2, NMCC beat Dexter 22-6 in Week 3, Dexter beat Doniphan 42-6 in Week 5, Caruthersville beat Dexter 30-12 in Week 6, Kennett beat Dexter 44-0 in Week 7, and Dexter beat Park Hills 13-7 in Week 8.

Dexter is a run-first offense anchored by running backs Corbin Strong who has 53 carries for 469 yards and Caleb Hoggard who has 95 carries for 432 yards.

Quarterback Haden Hillis, who has missed multiple games due to injury, started last week and completed three of eight passes for 18 yards.

Nate Gargas and Seth Rogers have been Dexter’s top receivers. Rogers has 11 catches for 81 yards and Gargas has nine catches for 103 yards.

The Dexter defense has allowed 21 points per game this season.

About Malden: Malden (2-6) was beaten by NMCC 50-40 in Week 1, Caruthersville beat Malden 49-18 in Week 2, Malden beat Portageville 28-22 in Week 3, Kelly beat Malden 42-34 in Week 4, Malden beat East Prairie 42-32 in Week 5, Hayti beat Malden 70-0 in Week 6, Charleston beat Malden 58-38 in Week 7, and Kennett beat Malden 49-0 in Week 8.

The Malden offense, which scores 23 points per game, has been shut out in two of its last three contests.

Quarterback Tye Miller leads the Green Wave in the rushing and passing departments.

Miller has completed 89 passes for 1,049 yards this season. He also has 158 carries for 875 yards.

The Green Wave struggled to move the ball on the ground in its most recent contest against state-ranked Kennett, moving the ball 20 times for only 38 yards.

Malden did display creativity in its passing game last week. Drew Blankinship completed a pass for 50 yards and Kristian Hollman completed a pass for 23 yards on trick plays.

Blankinship has been Malden’s primary receiver in the air recently. Over the past five games, Blankinship has 19 catches for 322 yards.

The Malden defense allows an average of 45 points per game.
