Scott City football edges Kelly on Elders' touchdown run

Sam Elders scored two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in the third quarter, as the Scott City football team edged Kelly 20-13 on Friday at Scott City High School.

The two teams combined for 26 points in the second quarter and seven in the other three quarters.

At halftime, it was tied 13-all.

Kelly (5-3) opened the scoring with 6 minutes, 11 seconds remaining in the second quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Evan Urhahn, who led the Hawks with 128 rushing yards on 25 carries.

Less than four minutes later, Elders had a 1-yard TD run of his own. Both teams missed the extra-point attempt.

Kelly retook the lead with 34 seconds left in the first half on another 1-yard Urhahn TD run. But Kobe Hann returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 13-all at halftime.

The Rams (6-2) took the lead for good with 3:41 left in the third quarter when Elders scored on a 1-yard TD run. The defense made that lead stand up as Elders finished with 13 tackles, including three for a loss.

Jimmy May had 99 rushing yards on 18 carries for Scott City, and Spencer Stratman was 8-of-18 passing for 126 yards. Joe Panagos had three catches for 69 yards.
