KENNETT, Mo. - Participation was at an all-time high at the third annual Kennett Athletics Booster Club Four-Person Golf Scramble Friday at Kennett Country Club.

A record 104 golfers participated in the event.

Final net proceeds raised were also at an all-time high at $15,016.75.

“We are very excited about how this event continues to grow each year,” Kennett Athletic Director Jim Vaughan said. “I think this is an event that people enjoy playing in. Every participant receives a tournament shirt and gift bag, so nobody leaves with nothing.

“We added a silent auction and a “Redskins” game to the fun this year, which seemed to be great additions,” Vaughan continued. “We also handed out eight hole prizes, as opposed to four in the past, providing an opportunity for more participants to win something. Each hole prize winner won a $25 gift certificate from the Pro Shop."

The money raised will go towards athletic programs at Kennett.

“We have grown in the number of teams and truly appreciate everyone that makes arrangements to come and take part in the tournament,” Vaughan said. “It always amazes me the amount of willing support that this community displays, whether it is participating in the tournament, or being a sponsor or donor in some regard. The people of Kennett are always more than ready to support our athletic department. I could never express enough appreciation to all who play a role, not just with this event either. The support never lets up.”
