High School Football Forum: Caruthersville v. Kennett---history!

Posted by Judgedog on Wed, Sep 26, 2012, at 10:12 PM:

The October 5th Caruthersville @ Kennett game is a game of historical significance for both schools as this game will be the 100th meeting between the Tigers and the Indians.

The two teams first met in 1915 where they actually played twice, with each team winning one game. Tigers 64-0; Kennett 3-13.

The teams have played every year since 1915 with the exception of the 1977 game which was cancelled by agreement as the Tigers were already in the playoffs. Caruthersville leads the series against Kennett with an overall record of 57-35-7.

Here is a breakdown of the series by decades

(Caruthersville-Kennett):

1910s: 4-1

1920s: 5-2-5

1930s: 4-5-1

1940s: 7-3

1950s: 6-3-1

1960s: 5-5

1970s: 6-3 (1977 game cancelled)

1980s: 7-4

1990s: 6-4

2000s: 5-5

2010s: 2-0

Totals: 57-35-7

How come it does not surprise me that you can come up with this kind of information? Thanks KC for this little insight of the history behind this game going into next weeks game, seems as if Kennett has been taking it rough on the gridiron but can remember some good teams they had when they had that RB Tyrone Golsby? I don't even remember his name if that is anywhere close lol...

But anywho I am looking forward to D-MO's return and hope that the coaching staff does not look past these vast improvements that we have shown over the last few weeks in his absence. Like Preacher Man Fan said we have taken this lemon and made lemonade. I know Darrell is going to be hungry for the pigskin but I would like to see what has been integrated over this time without him still used. You can give that kid the ball 10 times and he could get what most backs get in 20-30 carries.
