-- Posted by buyer beware on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 1:28 PM
  • Ste. Gen is for real. I haven't seen them play, but based on stats I'd say Valle just isn't as strong this season. They did lose a lot of starters. It happens to every program eventually.

  • Congrats to Sikeston on a big win today. I'd say their offensive woes seem to be cured. Dexter played hard, but we were just outgunned today. If Sikeston has some concerns, I'd say it would have to be in the passing game and in the secondary. What little offensive success we had today came mostly through the air.

Monroe was taken out with 8 mins left on 1st Quarter. He played 3 plays in 2nd, one for a score, but it was obvious he was hurt. Didn't play after that. Looks like we didn't need him to beat Charleston. Our 3rd stringer did just fine.

beef and cheese....I always gave you guys more credit than the class you're showing on here; can't you win with some class and not make classless comments like calling C'ton dirty?

-- Posted by Perrywinkle on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 8:58 PM
  • Birdfan,

Just got in from the game. What they said was true about the hits. All came from one kid, every tackle involved him diving in headfirst, at the knee and below of the ball carrier.

-- Posted by rwlbll on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 9:09 PM
  • *

Bird brains if it were not true I would not mention it. #18 led with his helmet all night you can't deny it. I will get video of the game and highlight it. It was helmets on knees and shins that's how you get serious injuries. This is nothing about class I am just stating facts. I give credit where it is due. When 2 of your RBs go down with busted up shins because if low helmet led blows to the knees. Stick to the hardwood the gridiron is not to kind to ya.

-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 9:17 PM
  • is that wrong that they teach receivers in college to block like that then?

-- Posted by Perrywinkle on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 9:20 PM
  • *

Most of the time its the guy that is leading with his head that gets the most serious injury. I seen him pull his helmet off and kind of shake his head around after one of those low hits. Player safety should be priority and when the coach sees one of his players leading with his head on tackles he should correct him. He was not hitting high with his helmet just low and below the knees. What is wrong with wrapping a guy up and actually tackling him? I hate to see low blows trying to take guys knees out and they were intentional. I will be more than sure to break down that game film and highlight where he did it multiple times for the majority most of the players did good fundamental tackling but when they hit low like that it took 2 of our guys out of the game. Getting hurt is part of football but intentionally trying to take a guys knees and shins out with helmets is uncalled for.

First off He Hate Me: Here is what I put:

"Our 3rd stringer did just fine." Meaning "one" not "team"

Now, if you read the contex before that sentence, you would have known, I didn't say we played our 3rd string team, but, our 3rd stringer, meaning our third string running back most of the game. Second, I have said it all season long, Maplewood will beat us again this year. Of course anything can happen. You say Charleston is young, News Flash, we are too! Most of the players you saw tonight will be back next year.

Birdfan- Please point out in my post where I said anything about someone playing dirty? Did #18 hit dirty, You bet he did. Monroe was eating Charleston up, so I guess the only way to nutralize him is take him out. That seemed to be the theme in tonight's game. All injuries to our 4 players who got put out tonight, was all knee injuries. That's no co-incidence. Sure your going to say it didn't happen, your a Charleston fan, your going to stand by them right or wrong. Do not call me classes because I speak the truth. I didn't get on here bragging about us beating Charleston. We are suppose to beat them, nothing new. It's fine for people to get on here and blast Darrell about his age and his grades but if we dare mention anything about a Charleston player, we are classes. Give me a break.

  • After a 40-yd. FG, Georgia now leading Mizzou 27-20. Tigers defense looks out of gas.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 9:57 PM
  • Maplewood is the worst coached bunch a kids that I have ever seen. All they have to do is take a knee and they pass and fumbled. Gave SG a chance at the 18 but SG did nothing with it. Maplewood has great athletes but is a complete joke of a program. SG is a solid team. They will play hard and compete but wont make to much noise in the playoffs, IMO.

-- Posted by caniplay on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 10:10 PM
  • Franklin throws a pick which Georgia returns to the Mizzou goal line. Georgia scored on the next play to go up 34-20. At least Mizzou showed they can play in the SEC!

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 10:15 PM
  • "Complete joke of a program"? "Pathetic and embarrassing"? Ste. Gen is for real and M-RH is not? Yet they somehow managed to beat the almighty Dragons? How did M-RH ever get to be ranked #1 in Class 2 with such awful coaching? You Ste. Gen guys are going to have to learn to handle defeat better and quit crying about it. You've been on here crowing for three weeks, now this week we're going to see if you can take it.

With all that said, I still think Ste. Gen is the team to beat in Class 3, District 1.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 10:23 PM
  • Another Mizzou turnover leads to another Georgia TD. Bulldogs now up 41-20. Georgia has scored 24 unanswered points.

  • Maplewood has the talent to walk through class 2. They are a better football team than SG. But come on up 8 with just over a minute and you try and pass? Dont know about how you can describe that preacher, other than just plain stupid!!! They tried to give it to Ste Gen. And holding calls after holding calls along with personal fouls.

If you didnt watch it then you have no clue.

  • I agree it doesn't sound like a very smart call, caniplay. My point was more about the overreaction by you Ste. Gen fans to the loss. We'll see if you take it like a man or if you whine and cry about it all week.

    Mizzou loses 41-20 to Georgia.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 10:38 PM
  • Lets see if you can read it for a third time. Maplewood has a better team than SG and should beat SG all day. SG is good, not great. But Im telling you the game was out of control.

So do you need a forth time to understand?

Another thing most people have ESPN and are probably watching it. No need to post score updates on a national TV game. Genius

No chip on my shoulder at all. Have you read anything your fellow Charleston poster's posted the last couple years? How is it okay for them to post what they want, but not me? Funny that's all you had to say, there was nothing you could say back to me about what I said, because it was all true! It's all good to me. I don't hate Charleston or anyone from Charleston but if your poster's talk smack, expect it back! Learn to handle defeat!

BleedGreen is like a rabid dog right now he talked his team up and they lost so he is snapping at anyone within a keystrokes length.

Caruthersville has a long way to compete with the top tier teams in Class 2 and we know this, we do not get on here and talk our team up against teams that are probably going to beat us. We go out and cheer them on regardless.

-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 11:05 PM
  • Maplewood's coach, Rich Nixon, won back-to-back Class 6 titles a few years back. Must be dumb luck since he's such a horrible coach and all.

Oh, I think we handled defeat quite nicely. I just responded to you guys' posts about how dirty Charleston plays and how you didn't need Monroe to beat Charleston. Both comments were a tad tasteless. And,this is my last comment on this subject.

And, Beef...I'll match my "birdbrains" against your intellect any day of the week and twice on Sunday.....how's that for a childish response to your childish remark! lol

  • Caniplay I read just fine and understood every word you said. Maybe you're the one who needs a reading lesson? I never did criticize the Dragons. Did I not say they're still the team to beat in Class 3, District 1? My point was entirely directed to Ste. Gen fans like you and Bleed Green who do not know how to lose or win with grace. You get on here and hype your team to the moon, crow when you win, and whine and cry and make all kinds of excuses when you lose. Yes, you admitted that M-RH was the better team, but did you leave it at that? No, you didn't.Re-read your posts (and BG's) and see if they're not filled will all kinds of over-the-top exaggerations about M-RH.

And if you'd been on semoball longer than two hours, you would know that it's common for posters to comment on college football and basketball.

How is me saying we didn't need Monroe to beat Charleston a tad tasteless? It was a fact, right? I guess people found out today we ARE more than one guy! Funny how the only people we get in to it with on here is from Charleston! It was the same thing last year, minus Slick50. Don't make me out to be a classless person. You do not know me personally. If you were, you would know that's far from the truth. Just because we point out something that happened in the game that actually happened, (which it wasn't just me and beef who stated it), doesn't mean I'm a classless person. I get along with everyone on here BUT Charleston guys because no matter what we say, good or bad, we are tasteless and classless. We will meet again in Districts but it will be in Cville and hopefully, Darrell stays healthy.

  • Boy the weather sure was nice in Charleston today! ;-) And NO, I did not fall down in the bleachers...not last night, and not today! I enjoyed the game, and am happy to see that the Charleston program seems to be headed in the right direction.

Did I mention how pretty the weather was in Charleston? ;-)

But as for Class 3 dist 1 it's not even close SG is head and shoulders better then every team!-BG

Im just waiting to see how this statement pans itself out over the next few weeks

-- Posted by BillShakespeare on Sat, Sep 8, 2012, at 11:58 PM
  • The difference between you and me Bleed Green is that I didn't hype my team to kingdom come or whine and cry when we lost. I'm not sour or bitter about anything. When you lose, you lose. I don't get on here and insult other teams and posters like someone I could name. And as to who has no class, I'm perfectly content to leave that judgment in the hands of the semoball community. Go back and re-read the posts of guys like Beef, Cheese, Sideline, BillShakespeare, BillYung, and others, and see who they're calling down?

But enough of this; Judgedog is right. On to Week 4!

He hate me Darrell can take and give licks, but I doubt anyone can take a lick like he did. It was not a routine tackle he usually shakes it off and keeps playing. It was not just Darrell that Sumner hit low it was 2 other guys one on the kickoff and the other 2 from his safety position. If it was a clean wrap up tackle or a freak accident I would not be on here talkin about it this was deliberate. So any teams in the future keep an eye on that safety he does not know how to tackle with his hands only with the crown of his helmet. He is either going to break his neck or destroy someones knee or leg and then something will officially get done about it, but until then keep defending his dirty play!!

  • BG,

Guess you were right about SG's secondary last week. They were pretty sketchy last night. As for MRH, hands down the dirtiest team I've ever seen. Everyone blasting the SG people for "whining" will be singing a different tune when it's their kids out there getting late hit by MRH. If I were a parent of an SG player in that game, I would've been scared to death watching my child play. Very dangerous, especially when coaches seem to not only not care, but celebrate the actions of the MRH players. I know I'll be called names and soft, but remember this is already a very dangerous game (a college kid literally died on the field yesterday), and doesn't need anymore risks. SG played hard in second half and will be better for this. Dallas and Terrana were beasts.

Bleed! I was talking to He Hate Me.. Quit being so quick on the trigger with the keyboard. I even mentioned the dudes name I was talking about. SG and their game with Maplewood has ZERO affect on me. I could care less who won or lost that game. I have no problem with you other than your ability to interpret who says what about who.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 10:53 AM
  • Maplewood plays at PH Central Week 4. That should be interesting.

I want to know how bad your team is to not be able to capitalize on 150+ penalty yards. Thats a football field and a half given to you

-- Posted by BillShakespeare on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 11:41 AM
  • Bleed Green, as much as it pains you, you've got to pull for PHC or Fredericktown to beat MRH, as it's the only chance your Dragons have of contending for a conference title. It will definitely be a tall order, but MRH showed in the second half they are susceptible against the power running game, which gives PHC a good chance.

    -- Posted by kools&oe on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 12:47 PM
  • BG, its not the Ste. Gen team we're down on. (Well, I can't speak for Zach or The Daddy!) We wouldn't even be on your case so much if you would just tone it down a little. The Dragons are an excellent, well-coached team. Even with the loss they're still the team to beat in Class 3, District 1.

As for the other teams in our district, its Kennett, NMCC, Lift For Life Academy, and Potosi. Check out Brian Rosener's blog on semoball each Monday. He's the sports editor of the Daily American Republic out of Poplar Bluff and he updates the points and district standings each week.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 1:25 PM
  • If PHC or Freddy would beat MRH and SG wins out, Sg would be the number 1 seed. No questions asked.

    -- Posted by kools&oe on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 1:52 PM
  • Unfotunantly Potosi is now #1 seed in district....

    -- Posted by mojo3 on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 2:06 PM
  • That's right, BG. Points are assigned each week based on the new playoff formula and then the teams are seeded accordingly. The Top 4 seeds get a home game in Week 10. #1 will play #8, #2 will play #7, and so on. As kools&oe said, if Ste. Gen wins out, they should get the #1 seed in our district. I doubt Potosi will go undefeated this year, though they do seem much improved.

    -- Posted by Bowie67 on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 2:36 PM
  • Ethan should play both varsity and JV. Since Cody Neldon's injury, Ethan has been our starting safety on varsity. He will continue to QB our JV squad. Ethan got some snaps against Sikeston due to an ankle injury to starter D.J. Dowdy. But D.J. is the starter and will remain so I am sure.

  • 5, 4, 3, 2.....1

-- Posted by zachattack on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 5:32 PM
  • i believe this is probably a better chance of freddy beating SG this year than there was in '07. this is a more complex freddy team playing the same basic team SG had that year. good run and pass team. just going off that though... nothing else... and i love watching your responses BG.

-- Posted by Perrywinkle on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 6:09 PM

-- Posted by zachattack on Sun, Sep 9, 2012, at 6:55 PM

I don't think anyone's opinion's flipped! They believe what they believe, and so do we. Just because we are trying to end a pointless argument, doesn't mean anyone's opinion changed! Speaking for myself, I feel the same way, if not more so since I saw the video! Props to the rest of the Charleston players though, they were gamers. #18, not so much
