Anyone heard of any Coaching Changes this offseason?

Judging by the number of highly qualified and vocal coaches in the stands, I expect wholesale changes for most teams. And if excessive and unhealthy weight and a total lack of any playing experience is a determining factor then the applicants should be plentiful. My money is on this one guy, who always knows what play to run, but who always waits until after the actual play has been run. He’s a football savant. And then there’s this other guy who can see a holding penalty from 78 yards away while simultaneously eating nachos and belching Natural Light. And never underestimate the mommy who screeches and yells about “offensive holding to the face on an illegal personal safety goal downfield”.

Dexter will be open again. The head coach told his players about it before Christmas break. Glad we have an AD now that can pick the right guy!

I would not be surprised if the current AD at Dexter becomes the new coach. He’s a good one and knows the community.

Semo ref- that would be great but I think Dexter has a policy against admin coaching. Maybe a Dexter alumni can come back to coach or one of the assistants will want to step up

bearcatforelife this is comical thinking it’s the Ad’s fault for hiring a coach it comes down to the school board on who they hire. And if anyone knows the back story to Dexters school and the problems they have had in the school system these past couple years shouldn’t be pointing the finger at one person for hiring a coach. Because if I recall when the now AD at Dexter left he’s teams weren’t doing to good either before he left. Just my opinion.

Why is Dexter coach leaving? I thought they were headed in right direction. Very physical. Stability is so important in high school football IMO.

JT14 - What I think is comical is your lack of punctuation. Obviously, you've misunderstood what was written by me in my previous post. Everyone knows that the school board gets the final say in the hiring and firing of school employees. My post wasn't a knock on any current or previous AD at Dexter. I was simply stating that the current AD could be seen as an asset in the hiring process. He has an exceptional working knowledge of what goes into running a football program, as well as what the community wants. He is also very well connected in the area and may be able to encourage quality applicants to apply.
Dexter's current coach stated family issues as his reason for leaving and said he would be returning to Tennessee. There is some discussion on if that is true... of course.

Just read a post on Twitter from DAR's Brian Rosener that Bluff's Mark Barousss has resigned. Bluff is going to be looking now...I think they should look no further though than the assistant head coach Dave Seivers to fill the vacancy.

Yes, Poplar Bluff should look to Dave Seivers for the coaching job

I saw someone say Lance Bell was in line to tak it over. He wouldn't be a bad choice and he's got head football coach experience at Perryville. Would love to see it be coach Seivers at least for one year.

Have they announced Barousse's replacement yet?

Dave Seivers was named the new head coach at Poplar Bluff at last night's board meeting. Apparently don't know exactly if true or not as I heard around the grape vine. If true what a great decision byvthe board. This is a man that is great with the kids and has been at PB forever. Anyone who has played football at Bluff in the last 30 years he has seen go through and I don't think any of those people have any bad Dave Seivers stories to tell. Only issue is he's a Jackson alumni but he's been a PB resident .

WWE Guru, didn’t you just yesterday say you wanted Judd Naeger to get this job?
-- Posted by ToeTheLine on Fri, Mar 16, 2018, at 12:50 PM
Heck yeah I would have wanted him to get it, he's a dang good coach who has seen success, but Dave Seivers definitely is a great decision by the board. Seivers actually would have been my first choice all along but my response to the Naeger rumor thread was hoping if he was leaving it would be to Bluff.

In honesty I had given up hope for Seivers to ever get the job withbhow politically driven the PB district is and he's not one to politic. Looking back on the past three coaching changes he's applied but there was always something with the eventual hire that got in his way. In 2006 with Robbins it was a case where they hired a coach who had turned around a struggling program and we were looking to do the same. 2008 with Kearbey it was the token alumni. 2011 with Barousse it was bringing a coach back who already had a history of success at the school. 2018 none of those factors are in his way.
