Who's your pick for top teams since Christmas Break ? I've seen these teams mentioned. Some teams got players back and have been getting hot at the right time, others are finally figuring things out.
Sikeston
Cape
Malden
Caruthersville
Charleston
South Pemiscot
Woodland
Dexter
Advance
NMCC

Bootheelsports.I think any list would probably need to include 16-1 PHC!

Do they play in teams down south ?
-- Posted by bootheelsports on Tue, Jan 26, 2016, at 9:39 PM
They play a couple of teams from what you are considering south notre dame and jackson!
-- Posted by porchswing on Tue, Jan 26, 2016, at 9:48 PM
South Pem is really good and Malden has been pulling out close ones
-- Posted by SouthEspn on Tue, Jan 26, 2016, at 9:50 PM
South Pem & Malden were both beat by Saxony. Malden then defeated NMCC and Caruthersville. Saxony's only losses have come to four class 4 schools, whom one of the 4 was beat by Saxony earlier in the season.

Malden hasn't lost since the christmas tournament.wins over nmcc, cville, south pem ,scc just to name a few.

Thread title is, "Top Teams Since Christmas Break." Saxony just broke a three-game losing streak tonight.
-- Posted by ToeTheLine on Tue, Jan 26, 2016, at 10:53 PM
I just saw that Caruthersville beat Charleston tonight. Class 3 is wide open this season everyone's beaten everyone based on who you beat.
Who does Caruthersville have left ?
When does Sikeston play Cape Central ?
Yes Porchswing, basketball from Jackson south the Bootheel is typically better than in Mineral Areat, that why I asked have they played down this way.

Cville played great, they shot it well from 3. Bell, alsup, Fonda are fine players. Cville played hard and got a rare win in Charleston. I was impressed with them. C3d1 should be exciting, parity is in for class3 in semo. Charleston has dropped 2of 3, this was a tough loss and they still have Kennett, bluff, cape, mounds, portageville, Malden and jackson gonna be tough! Losses to Vashon, Sikeston (twice), Jackson, ND class 4,5 schools and out of state Covington TN, Paducah KY by 7 who easily beat Carbondale for the superman classic championship and c'ville! Pretty tough schedule but it'll have'em ready in Feb.

I wouldn't say Paducah beat Carbondale "easily." The final score was 71-64 and Paducah went on an 11-0 run at the end of the game. Sounds like it was a barnburner to me.

Bootheelsports,I would agree with you typically but this is a year by year thing you just can't assume.A couple of years ago Farmington got all the way to the final four and went through the bootheel to do it!I think this year with my eyes that PHC has a chance to play with any class three teams from the south!

Sikes plays at Cape Feb 12 and for those who have alreddy practically handed the dawgz a district title, beware of the Al. Cape is gittn their game in gear and have ten wins inna row. Al dropped 27 lasnite with 10 boards so i'd say Cape and Sikes are neck and neck for hottest squads since Christmas.
-- Posted by cirithungol17 on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 9:56 AM
Sikes will beat Cape by 15-20
-- Posted by bball79 on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 11:11 AM
Dont forget the Orange Wall factor, always good for a ten point swing in capes favor
-- Posted by cirithungol17 on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 11:35 AM
PHC is 15-1 and just beat a good Cape Notre Dame team by 20 last night and they play Jackson today! They are no doubt one of the best teams in the state right now
-- Posted by Defense11 on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 11:42 AM
Don't know if i would call ND a good team or not.
-- Posted by BIGELW on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 11:52 AM
Good but not "Regional High School" good, maybe.
-- Posted by Larry Doby on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 12:07 PM
Beating ND gives them no credit. ND is in a down year and is 8-10. Now beating Jackson would be pretty good win for them. PHC is a good team no doubt. They will zoom through C3D3

I was there the score doesn't indicate how much Paducah controlled the game! Warfield was unstoppable and yes I Paducah won easily as I states before!
-- Posted by Defensive Ace on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 1:23 PM
My apologies. The newspaper article I read must have not given an accurate depiction of the blowout that Paducah put on Carbondale despite Paducah trailing in the fourth quarter and going on an 11-0 run to overtake Carbondale in the final minutes to win by seven. You were there and I'll take your word for it.
-- Posted by semohoops on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 3:01 PM
Lol I didnt know easily meant blowout. I never said blowout. My opinion of easily is how Paducah attacked their big guys and pressure! I watched the whole day sat and imo they won easily. Why does me saying "easily" get confused with blowout? Lol wow
-- Posted by Defensive Ace on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 4:46 PM
My mistake. I misinterpreted your meaning.
-- Posted by semohoops on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 9:35 PM
Come on semohoops! Everybody knows that a 4th quarter come from behind win is winning easily. It's like a Sunday stroll. I bet they could have won it blindfolded with one hand tied behind their backs. How could anyone think otherwise? How dare you challenge DA's opinion! Geez.
-- Posted by T-Roll on Wed, Jan 27, 2016, at 10:12 PM
So is phc just a "good" sumo conference team? Was kindve surprised they lost to Jackson with the record they had but I guess it just goes to show that the level of our northern brothers basketball just isn't quite the same as ours.
15-2 now, good win for Jackson. Seems like they aren't afraid to play down some classes and give teams a shot which results in some interesting matchuos
And defensive carbondale would probably beat Charleston also though, that'd be a fun game to watch
-- Posted by superunbiased on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 12:11 AM
But carbondale is pretty good, and they got a player back after Christmas break
-- Posted by superunbiased on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 12:12 AM
Sikeston has the following games left:
Sikeston @ Kennett
Sikeston vs Poplar Bluff
Sikeston @ Cape Central
Sikeston vs NMCC
Sikeston @ Caruthersville
Sikeston @ Bernie
Sikeston vs DeSoto
Could anyone left beat them or will the run the table ?
-- Posted by bootheelsports on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 10:06 AM
I think @Cape and @Cville will be tough games for Sikeston but they should be favored to beat everyone left on their schedule.
-- Posted by SouthEspn on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 10:09 AM
They also play ritenour and 6th ranked Jennings
-- Posted by superunbiased on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 10:17 AM
Also Ritenour tomorrow night in the tournament championship. Farmington at home on Monday. Plenty of tough games left.
-- Posted by semohoops on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 10:20 AM
We play Farmington also still
-- Posted by TFA on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 10:21 AM
Oops he beat me
-- Posted by TFA on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 10:22 AM
But to answer your question, Jennings probably has the best "shot" to beat sikeston, but with how their season ended and went last year im anticipating them to turn it up a notch.
Cape, kennett, nmcc, and pb will all be good games to watch since it'll be all first time matchups except pb and im curious to see how much they have improved if they have.
But if they do pick up a surprising loss its definitely not the end of the world, just have to keep improving, do all the little things right, keep outworking their opponents and I like their chances at a post season run.
-- Posted by superunbiased on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 10:27 AM
Ritenour is very talented, quick, big and athletic. They will be a handful tomorrow night.
-- Posted by semohoops on Thu, Jan 28, 2016, at 10:36 AM
Out of schedule above, no one will get within 15-20. Don't know much about Farmington or Jennings but let's just say they can't lose more than 2 regular season games and I don't think they will lose any.
