  • Al Young-Cape,he could put up big numbers on any given night.

Javarcus Word-New Madrid, he got what every coach love for a kid to have but can't be taught,(he got that dog in him)might be the smallest on the court but has the biggest heart. Love watching that kid play.

  • Any semo area top 5 list without Ellington's Morrisey on it is incomplete.

-- Posted by hoopaholiczanon on Sun, Oct 11, 2015, at 3:39 AM
  • Top 5 I have seen......I would say...Word from NMCC, Thatch from Sikes, Porter from SCC. Then it gets harder. I have not seen Morrisey play. Charleston has a point I like. Can't think of name right now. Sharp maybe?? Cville had good JV team last year but don't know those guys names. Cville had good 8th grade team too last year. They could be up and coming as a team. Jackson big man will make some noise too I believe. I really need to look up some names. Forgive me.

  • Hoppa is right, Morrisey should on this list, he's been dominating since he's been a freshman. I would've mentioned him,but I thought we was talking about semo conference. But it would be nice to see him play in semo conference, he would've been a household name by now.

William Rodgers will be an area top player. He's a junior at Saxony Lutheran.

  • Agree al young will be one of best rodgers will be good also. Theres a kid on advance thats good also

  • Since Marshon "Baby" Morrissey plays at Ellington, nobody get's to see him in the SEMO region. He's averaging 21pts and 11rebs. Nobody in SEMO could guard him. I'd like to see if NMCC could get him in the Riverbend for 1 day next year for his senior year.

    -- Posted by coachporterjp3 on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 9:32 AM
  • Nobody in Semo could guard a 6"1 post player who doesn't shoot or handle the ball that well?

-- Posted by BIGELW on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 11:07 AM
  • I think Noah Vandiver should be on this list .

    And maybe Zack Beel.

-- Posted by Hightops on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 11:15 AM
  • BIGELW nope. Have you seen this kid play, he's a beast, nobody could guard him on the Block if that helps clear up my statement.

    -- Posted by coachporterjp3 on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 11:37 AM
  • No one in SEMO could guard him? Wow. That's a pretty bold unprovable statement. Have you had issues with people calling you are an idiot?

    -- Posted by T-Roll on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 11:41 AM

Beel for sure. He will get some offers throughout the year. I know SEMO was out to watch him multiple times last year during the Dickey Nutt era. Also watch out for Woodland JR. Michael McCormick. Was 6'5 last year. Can rebound well and step outside and knock em downand averaged almost 5 blocks a game and plays some of the best defense I've seen out of Woodland. Every name mentioned so far in this post so far has some elite talent. Can't wait for basketball to start!!

    -- Posted by cker23 on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 11:53 AM
  • Gotta be a dude from Jayzland on this list! Who would possibly make the list from Charlestown?

    -- Posted by cirithungol17 on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 11:58 AM
  • T-Roll please read your post one more time before you start the name calling. "calling you ARE an idiot" ..... ARE we going to start this before basketball season ? Only if auto correct fixed everything lol.

    -- Posted by coachporterjp3 on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 12:04 PM
  • Morrissey is very talented offensively. He's quick and strong and finishes well around the basket. I'm not sure he's unstoppable, but I think, more than anything that coachporter is just trying to give some love to a kid who is just outside the area and most have not seen.

BIGELW, he's not a bad ball handler either. I'm not saying he's a one man, but he can handle it for a kids his size.

-- Posted by ozzyandharriet on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 1:30 PM
  • I know he's a good player but how do you know nobody could guard him. Playing in Semo is a worlds difference than playing agaisnt the teams Ellington plays.

-- Posted by BIGELW on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 1:33 PM
  • (He can handle it for a kid his size) He the size of most guards and he doesn't handle it that well for a kid his size. He's is a very good player i just don't agree the NOBODY in Semo could guard him.

-- Posted by BIGELW on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 1:40 PM
  • BIGELW-It seems like you're always trying to examine every kids from SEMO like you would a kid who's a division 1 recruit. OF COURSE HE'S THE SIZE OF A GUARD IF HE'S 6-1! But he's not a guard. He's never been a guard. Therefore, he will not handle like a really good guard would because he's always played in the paint. How about this? He handles the ball well for a post player who if he were 6-6 nobody would even care?

-- Posted by ozzyandharriet on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 1:57 PM
  • BIGELW do you like any player ?

    -- Posted by coachporterjp3 on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 2:22 PM
  • I always love it when the best you have is to comeback with a typo.

Nonetheless, don't make idiotic statements, and no one will call you an idiot. But if the shoe fits...

I mean, geez, somebody has stopped him. His team lost five games last year.

    -- Posted by T-Roll on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 2:49 PM
  • Not saying he's a Top 5 player in SEMO, but another kid from Sikeston to watch this year is freshman Kevin Jones. Sikeston should be loaded this year.

-- Posted by rocketsbro on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 2:59 PM

No order but all players who we need to have our eyes on

-- Posted by JustAnotherDay on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 6:18 PM
  • I heard Al Young may not play this year. Just to make sure no injuries for his College career for football. Now don't quote me on that. That's just what I heard.

    -- Posted by FAN24 on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 6:21 PM
  • Yes I like a lot of players. I just don't like the statement you made that he couldn't be stopped by anybody in Semo when you have no clue if he could or couldn't be.

T-Roll has been banned for a few days. Rachel may be gone, but I won't allow derogatory name calling go down.

-- Posted by Chris Pobst on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 6:28 PM
  • NMCC Sr. Chris Farr could be "surprise" player in semo area.

    -- Posted by indian73 on Wed, Nov 11, 2015, at 10:40 PM
  • Not really sure why Kyle Moore is not on any of yalls list

-- Posted by HaytiPride on Thu, Nov 12, 2015, at 8:18 AM
  • Kyle Moore, Marshon Morrissey, Dominique Hardimon and the list goes on, these are all really good players, but if they're not in the Semo Conference not to many people will know them that's why their names will not be on to many people list.

Can't wait for the SEMO Conference tournament!!!!!

-- Posted by Tmarlo on Thu, Nov 12, 2015, at 11:04 AM
  • @coachporterjp3 ^^^^^^^^^^ haha truth

    -- Posted by mk3 on Thu, Nov 12, 2015, at 11:07 AM
  • I watched Dominique Hardimon (South Pemiscot) play in his first two games. He is a Freshman starting Varsity. His first game against Pocahontas, AR. He scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds. His second game he had 14 points and 9 rebounds. I am excited about seeing this kid play this year. His stats are on gamechanger.

-- Posted by LeBum on Tue, Dec 1, 2015, at 1:04 PM
  • Did South Pem win their first 2 games? Who was the 2nd game against?

Looking forward to watching Hardimon play.

  • Does Valle have anyone? The team who beat Ellington last year in the District Championship. I heard they have a solid PG

-- Posted by sesports on Tue, Dec 1, 2015, at 2:17 PM
  • Can't overlook Blake bauwens from ND or Winston Welter both are stud guards.

-- Posted by Tigerforlife on Tue, Dec 1, 2015, at 2:41 PM
  • Here we go again. I love how if i don't agree with someone that makes me a hater.

Zach Beel is a stud for Woodland. A college was in the crowd last night to watch Beel and Michael McCormick. Beel is a 6'7 Sr. and McCormick is a 6'6 Jr.

    -- Posted by cker23 on Tue, Dec 1, 2015, at 3:57 PM
  • That Kyle Moore kid from Senath is good, watched him play lastnight against Gosnell

    -- Posted by semoredhawk24 on Tue, Dec 1, 2015, at 5:28 PM
  • @Oldschool South Pem beat Delta C7 their 2nd game

-- Posted by Shank on Tue, Dec 1, 2015, at 8:25 PM
  • After watching Dominique Dyes play for sikeston over the year I believe he might be in the runnings for one of the best in semo area??? The man straight snapped tonight and been doing it for awhile now.

I thought Saxony was still in SEMO! Apparently no one knows anything about Corie Williams or William Rogers. Their schedule doesn't do them much justice but they will play Cape Central and Notre Dame during regular season. Maybe they'll be noticed then.

-- Posted by JustSpeakingTheTruth on Wed, Dec 2, 2015, at 6:07 AM
  • @ oldschool3 Yes, South Pemiscot won their first two games. They beat Pocahontas and Delta C-7.

    -- Posted by Love1997 on Wed, Dec 2, 2015, at 11:20 AM
  • I guess everyone is sleeping on Jessey Childress from Southland, he's already averaging 28 pts in his first two games of the season

-- Posted by LionPride on Wed, Dec 2, 2015, at 11:39 AM
  • Thanks Shank and Love1997 for the info.

    -- Posted by oldschool3 on Wed, Dec 2, 2015, at 11:58 AM
  • I agree with cker23. Beel and McCormick should be toward the top of this list.

    -- Posted by joefrank78 on Wed, Dec 2, 2015, at 1:13 PM
  • Morrissey from Ellington is a

Very nice 6'3" post player, but I'm not sure he's even the best player on his own team. Wes Sharp is a 6'6" shooter who plays inside and out. West County had Ellington down by 13 at half, but Sharp went off in the second half and brought them back to win. Morrissey had a solid game, but was contained by a 6'0 kid who couldn't jump. Then Hartville beat Ellington by 31 Saturday. Morrissey is a very nice player, but not unstoppable.

-- Posted by Highschoolball on Wed, Dec 2, 2015, at 5:53 PM
  • Dominique Dyes had a good game last night (26 pts), he might be Sikeston leader.

    Marcedus Leech had a good debut 22pts 4reb 4ass 5stls.

-- Posted by Tmarlo on Wed, Dec 2, 2015, at 6:11 PM
  • Because having 28 points is being contained..? I haven't seen anyone stop morrissey (Except Hartville) and Hartville is a VERY solid team but Ellington is lacking guard play they have no solid guards on that team.
