High School Baseball Forum: District Predictions

Posted by MU_Tigers on Thu, May 15, 2014, at 7:08 AM:

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were as to the possible district winners in Classes 1-5 Districts 1-4. Going to be some interesting pitching match-ups and pitching strategies employed I'm sure.

  • Valle Catholic vs Chaffee will be a great match-up if they both win their district.

  • If Chaffee can get by Bernie, it will be a good game. Bernie is a very solid team and will be hard to beat at home. Chaffee or Bernie vs. Valle will be a great game.

  • Any thoughts on class 4 and 5 district winners?

  • And since Chaffee lost to Greenville this spring and Bernie lost to Greenville this fall then I would say Valle and Greenville would be a good game. Tough District!

  • It seams every team has an ace pitcher but not two. Some teams have really good #2. I take the top seeds all around.

  • Valle would crush Greenville. Greenville will not get by Bernie.

  • Greenville should have been the No. 1 seed in Class 2, District 3, in my opinion. I'm going to call it like I see it without bias every time. Baseball needs to adopt the seeding policy (points system) football uses.

The current brackets puts Chaffee in a great position in the district.

  • My pick would be if Valle beats Chaffee they go to state and if Chaffee wins the winner of District 1 or 2 has at least a 50-50 chance against Chaffee in quarterfinal.

  • Don't count out something special in Class 2, District 1, down south or out west in Class 2, District 2, even if everyone north of Highway 60 or east of Highway 67 thinks they are special.

  • They didn't beat Bernie and with the points system they would be the 3. They lost 8 games.

  • How would the points system work in baseball, Dustin?

  • Same way it does in football. Enter all the data and let a computer seed the teams.

  • So, like the BCS system?

  • Like the football system we use to seed the high school football districts.

  • I don't think the points system could work out for baseball, because the lineups differ, as opposed to football. It would be quite a task to take into consideration "which pitcher" opposed certain teams, etc.
