High School Baseball Forum: Best stuff

Posted by Hornets on Sat, Jan 8, 2011, at 5:43 PM:

I'm tired of hearing who's the hardest throwing pitchers around, who's got the best stuff?

  • normally middle infielders have some nasty breaking pitches haha if you notice we talk about all around pitchers in those forums but velocity is the main point.

  • From the pitchers I've seen. Morris from Clearwater. Anderson from Cooter. Woodard from Naylor are probably the top 3. I haven't seen many of the guys from the Cape area.

You guys should get out more and see some of the pitchers from the larger schools, I'm not saying there aren't some good pitchers at the smaller schools. But really you guys should broaden your horizons.

  • I think Logan Morris will be the clear standout pitcher this year regardless of school class. Already signed with three rivers along with Neil Johnson.

  • From what I have seen ( I haven't seen everyone ) but here's a list of guys ( no particular order ) of who I think have some pretty nasty stuff.

    Garrett Stockton - twin rivers

    Clay Baker - Jackson

    Quinton West - poplar bluff

    Logan Morris - clearwater

    Dalton Woodard - naylor

    Logan Bartell - Jackson

    Jordan? Anderson - cooter

    Andy Lacke - Kennett

Haven't heard much about any Cape , Sikeston , or Dexter pitchers but I'm sure there is a few good ones in that mix.

  • this is really hard to do before the season starts because of how much high school kids can change in a year or even a semester.

Adam Grantham is another one to watch this year at Kennett. he's a junior this year and Andy Lacke and him should share most of the pitching duties this year. Very big kid, physically gifted, throws in the mid 80's with a nice sinking change up and a hard, sharp curve.

  • I thought Adam Grantham was a senior this year? Only reason I assume this is because he signed to play baseball next year for Wabash Community College.

  • No he is just a junior. Not really sure why he signed so early, I believe he could have gone somewhere quite a bit better but then again I know nothing about Wabash.

here's his maxpreps profile from last season. http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/arK1rNQeskS6LaTI7QPqTw/baseball-spring-10/profi...

  • the Kovach kid from Naylor should be on this list

  • Thomas from Oak Ridge already signed with Mizzou, are there any other DI signees.

  • Andy Lack from Kennett signed with Semo. I am not sure which position he is going to play though.

  • Kovach is a good player. Not sure he would make a top 10 pitchers list though.

  • Lack is going to Semo to play middle infield and pitch in relief.

  • I would have to say that Garrett Stockton from Twin Rivers is the best all around pitcher in this area, just judging by what i have seen. He has solid velocity throwing in the mid 80's and has some great breaking stuff. Not to mention he nevers walks people.
