Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.

Just a couple minutes into the second consolation game of the morning, a medical situation occurred with one of Kennett's players, Randrick Carruthers, on the court.

According to tournament coordinators, the Kennett players didn't wish to continue the game, so Malden will move on to play Doniphan in the consolation semifinals on Monday.

I know there are many curious and concerned fans, so I wanted to get everyone up to speed on our player that collapsed today. An EKG revealed an irregularity in his heartbeat and an enlarged heart. He is feeling better and back to an aware state somewhat remembering what happened. All other test work came back good. He has been sent on to St Louis University Hospital for further testing to find out what has caused this and what steps need to be taken to care for it.

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for the concern and love felt to out team and this young man. Thank you to everyone who extended prayers and comfort. I received phone calls from so many colleagues from other schools expressing their concern and their players' concerns. I just everyone to know how appreciated that is.

A special thank you to Mr. Frank Killian, Malden's principal. He came to the hospital in Dexter while we were still there and visited with our players, coaches, etc . . . I did not know he was there as I was in the room with Randrick. My assistants informed me of his appearance. It is so special to know that within our competitive world of high school athletics, there are so many people out there that understand that it is more than a win or a loss.

Prayer is a powerful thing! Thank you all.
